MrMojo: By doing this Getty has essentially given up protecting its photographers from unauthorized use of their images in a narrow set of circumstances. At the same time Getty is making it possible to monetize unauthorized use and it appears that its photographers won't get a cut of the pie.
As far as the difference between "commercial" and "non-commerical" use goes, here is my definition of a commercial website: If the website generates income in any form it is commercial, period. Be it advertisements or simply promoting a service, the website is generating income for the website's owner. If the website owner makes money and my images are used on the website, then I am going to license my images for a fee, period.
My understanding is that Getty is reticent about chasing down payment for unauthorized use when weighing the cost benefit ratio.
I think the sky would have been very dark if not for the moon. It would have been more like the upper corners without the moon. But take my opinion with a grain of salt since I had an entry in this challenge that got dinged with some low scores. :)
I see a number of shots during sunset and at least one daylight shot
What happened to the winning image?
Hello, will this challenge be expanded to 50 and if so, at what time? Thank you
ConanFuji: Congratulations. Nice clean shot with lovely composition
Thank you very much.
Are we clooking for shots of entire buildings or are shots of just the top ok?
In voting, how much weight should be given to the quality of the blue sky versus the quality of the image (composition, exposure, focus, interest factor, etc). For instance, should an image with a super blue sky with nothing else of interest in the photo score higher than an image with an ordinary blue sky with otherwise fantastic qualities?
I guess some people felt the need to punish shots of seals and sea lions with half star votes. I got dinged with 3 half stars.
Great colors here.
