FYI, my friend purchased a D800E from Amazon a few weeks ago, US serial started with 500xxxxx.

Just an FYI, my friend recently purchased a D800E from Amazon, and his serial starts 500xxxxx.  Still says made in Japan.  I think newer D800E's are using 500xxxxx serials.

It's also on the 50mm f/1.4 AF-S.  I always wondered what that thing was for...when cleaning the front element, I always have to watch out not to pull it out.  Really wonder if it needs to be there.

Yes, all images in the gallery linked are from a single exposure. I rarely have to do HDR/2 exposure work anymore.
