Placed 7^th in the challenge. What started out as a cool project to try out my new macro lens developed into a fascinating insight into how life evolves. From egg to larva (caterpillar) to chrysalis to butterfly the transformation is nature at its best. About 5 hours after this photo was taken a beautiful, perfect, male monarch butterfly emerged, stretched his wings & flew into the world.

Placed 1^st in the challenge. This photo was taken using the side mirror of my boyfriend's car from the Piha Beach lookout point. It is a beautiful beach on the west coast of New Zealand with black volcanic sand.
