New Guy Wanna Learn: Guys, how come this doesnt look like the one at canon rumours? That one on the right hand side looks so like a mean beast!
The one shown here looks just like 1 dx...
the CR one on the right hand side is a C500
NigelMoore: The additional images appear to come from the Canon press kit, and that side-on image is identical to the one shown on CR, but the back certainly is not:http://www.canonrumors.com/2012/04/canon-u-s-a-introduces-eos-1d-c-digital-slr-camera-featuring-4k-high-resolution-video-capture/
The CR image shows the 1D-C on the left and the C300 (or possibly a C500 press image/mockup) on the right
Until they fix the links (matter of minutes probably) go through here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/studio-compare
Outstanding jpeg colours and the RAW is wonderful.
Aspenland: My comment is gone... guys, are you deleting things?
This needs addressing
"You don't need that"
Claiming this is too much or a waste is akin to saying a photographer who shoots stuff to put on the web should just as well use a 2Mp stills camera. After all, what website would use images over 2MP? But that's missing the point entirely.
Why anyone would poo-poo progress is beyond me.
Cons: It's a Nikon and my glass isn't.
tkbslc: I see a lot of comments about price. Is it listed somewhere or is it all speculation?
Generally speaking Tamron, Sigma and Tokina price their "equivalent" (i.e. ones that have a 1st party counterpart) at a lower price point. By how much varies greatly, and there are exceptions (the sigma 50mm f/1.4 for example) and most of the time the lower price is deserving due to lower image quality indicative of the "you get what you pay for" lens ecosystem.
In this case I am more hopeful, and would happily purchase this over the 24-70 II if the IQ is up to snuff.
I am so excited by this lens, ever since I saw the announce this morning on PR, however the headline says "releases". Totally got my hopes up DPR :(
