$500 for 1/1.7"...nooo thank you.

What you posted is like going to an AA Meeting and asking who has a drinking problem. You can't use forums for collecting statistics and expect them to be even remotely accurate. The sample sizes...

There are tons of people without any issues, myself included (on 3 different D600's), as well as many other members here. Keep in mind that people usually only take the time to write about...

I've done all the research and I am going with the Nikon 105 VR. All 3 lenses are extremely sharp. Nikon's VR seems most effective, and there are no worries about third party quality...

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's a shame so many people think DPreview (or internet forums in general) is a reliable source of statistical information - really exaggerates any issue.
I...

What you seem to be missing is the fact that a great many of us have perfectly functioning D600/D800's. You only hear of the bad stories, because you probably just read on the internet like...

The set of Dexter recently replaced all their $60,000 video rigs with D800's.

Sounds to me like you are using AF-A mode (auto-area). I don't think many people shoot in this mode. The camera is trying to show you which things will be in focus by lighting up all those...

They are hot or stuck pixels - common in both long exposures and/or high ISO images.
Run your sensor clean function twice in rapid succession - that runs a pixel mapping that should remove them for...

Grey market lenses come off exactly the same production line as the rest of the lenses - you just forfeit warranty. Nothing about a grey market is less reliable. Resale will be a little less...

That's actually not entirely true. Any lens that has a telescoping zoom design sucks dust into the camera. You see lots of people complaining about dust (from all brands) saying they've never...

That lens is actually has the light transmission of a F4.5, even though it is advertised as F4.0 - doesn't matter what number they choose to put on it, it behaves as a f4.5 (T-Stop). There is...

Go out and shoot all the things you normally would. Don't waste your time with exhaustive tests, examining 200% crops, and finding problems that may not actually exist.

The difference is $1200 but the D600 is A LOT more camera than that 6D. Just have a look at the spec sheets if you need help justifying the $1200 :-).
Another thing to consider is that the Canon...

My guess is the blu-ray player cannot read whatever CODEC the D600 uses for sound. Most computer players (VLC, etc.) will play essentially everything, which is why you will rarely have an issue...

Not at all. They are BARELY more concentrated than the D800. If you look at an overlay, the difference is quite minimal.
The D600 would have absolutely no problem whatsoever with toddlers....

You can't. It's a feature of the camera that always tells you how many shots remaining you have, albeit an EXTREMELY conservative estimate (you can usually about double that number).
The only way...

Pre-update AF was already outstanding for BIF and sports (many examples on the web). If they improved it from that, then that is just gravy.
Activity older than 12 months is not displayed.
