I would bet money that Canon fanboy Garyjp does NOT own an RX100.
Franco8: Evidence that Sony must spend a fortune in advertising with this magazine.
A compact camera with a zoom the new Canon 1GX is a leap above any other camera
Olympus Pen series cameras, with Nikon Canon Pentax etc all have dust issues and they a shutter protecting the sensor, with Olympus the sensor is fully exposed yet they do not have that issue due to there patented dust reduction system. this is a leap in technology.
what about these new lenses on the market 18~200, 18~270 or 18~300 even though they are not pro lenses, they are pretty good quality, this would have been impossible to manufacture several years ago.
all the above should be above the Sony.
In many cases there would be no photo to see if the camera wasn't small enough to fit in a pocket!
GaryJP: Hmm. All these people banging on about it being a pocketable camera. Don't your pockets have pocket lint?
It's the last place I'd put a camera without a case, and with a case it isn't exactly pocketable.
I carry mine on the wrist strap, ready to shoot, which makes it only mildly more convenient than many other small cams.
I have one too. It's always in my pocket. Lint and all. Why do so many guys deny that it is pocketable?
All I can say is that I'm very happy with mine! Don't really care what the fanboys or haters say. The camera speaks for itself...
IRay808: Its sad to know that all the guys that wanna jump from the 7D to the 6D have to invest all there moneys into FF lenses now since Canon Full Frame Cameras don't have a crop mode. n downgrading from CF to SD? no dual slot? I shoot Nikon, but it must be devastating for all you Canon shooters to see a so called upgrade like this and for a price that is $99 more than their main rival..
Going from a 7d to 6d would be a huge step down. There met not be many going in that direction.
OLW: I find it very sad that people are slagging down the article examples just minutes after it's been posted. Haven't they got a life? Must have nothing better to do with themselves. I used to like reading the posts here and on the forum but am getting put off now by negative people that just moan about stupidness. Nice article and well written. Thanks for sharing ;-)
Manuel you are SO right!
wlachan: Must be a new trick Canon have planned all along. Instead of R&D a new camera, Canon just limited the capability of the 7D from the beginning, then extended its life by releasing its full potential a few years later.
Yeah, you're right. Wait til you see what the 1DX can do in three years. What are you guys smoking???
Octane: Awesome that a manufacturer spends a lot of time and effort to make an 'old' camera much better and provides it as a free upgrade via software. I hope this will set an example!
tipit...do you have an uncle that works there that told you why Canon upgraded the 7D? How exactly do you know why they did this? As a 7D owner it only makes me more loyal to Canon. You sound like a whiny da.
The bottom line is that this update is good for 7D owners.
Come on you clowns! If you own this camera this firmware gives you free added features. What's not to like?
Don't like it? Sell your 7D or buy something else, I don't see Canon twisting anyone's arm to buy a 7D...
