Thanks for the replies C! I read and enjoyed your G15 review. I'm really liking the G15 the more I play with it.
I think my opinions of the P7700 are pretty much formed but I still look forward...

Sorry about the 2nd post. Couple questions I forgot to ask! :-)
Can you expound on what are the "couple other issues"?
I'm also curious about your impression of the 3 control dials. I never...

Curious. What was your impression of the camera's overall operational speed? I've been shooting with a P7700 for a couple months and find it very laggy when changing settings and simply clicking...

I've sporadically noticed a strange behavior with my P7700 when zooming back from the tele range, and was wondering if anyone else has seen anything similar?
Here's a link to a video that shows it,...

Last I read here, the 5R & 6 currently don't use phase AF in video modes, but Sony was "working on it".
If that's still correct, then I find the "AF system and Performance" section on page 9 of...

B&H had been listing the 5R kit at $650 for a while ($100 "Instant Savings" that ended a couple days ago IIRC). Now it's listing even lower - $600 due to $150 "Instant Saving" ended June 1st.
Just...

Am I the only one finds "street photography" generally insipid and uninspiring? This just takes it to a new level of tastelessness.
-
b) someone shoots back If you mean with a gun, then justice will have been served. This insipid trend of "street photography" can't fade soon enough IMO.
-
Does "working on it" mean they expect to fix current models soon via firmware update, or that the next models will work correctly?
Sony shouldn't have shipped these models with out the new phase...

How about a *true* fullscreen loupe view (where the image extends fully to the screen edge, with no flyout bars on the edges or blank background space). Instant access to the UI (folders,...

+1 I see this too and very much hope it's fixed in 4.4. Interestingly, I see the bug 18MP images but not 12MP. wierd..

Thanks for the reply. When I read "lock" I immediately assumed the context was "camera locking up" (which is sort of what I see with mine sometimes) rather than "locking onto focus". My bad! :-)
-
Just curious, what you mean by, "pulling back on the zoom a bit will usually result in a lock". I've gotten strange behavior with both of my P7700's when zomming out from the tele range. Curious...

Unfortunately no, I had all default settings in DPP (even did Revert to Shot Settings to be sure.) I just selected the raw file and did Convert and Save, with a high-ish jpg quality (8).
Im...

Well, in the workflow I'm trying to apply, sharpening would be the final step. Take a bunch of pictures, copy the RAWs to the computer, do a batch conversion to jpg with the expectation of getting...

Here are the crop regions (image below). The yellow rectangle is the first crop, the red the second. (Canon 15-85 at 15mm btw.)
CA in these regions doesn't surprise me at all. Trees against blown...

I'm not sure how well the first example shows it. Here's a smaller crop. First image is the DPP conversion, second image the OOC jpg. Why does the DPP-converted image lack the detail shown in the...

Here's an example. This is the full image:
And here's a comparison of the DPP-converted & OOC jpegs. The crop region is the tops of the trees in the top-center of the full image.
OOC...

I'm trying to figure out how to get DPP to do (batch) raw conversion that yields essentially the same images as OOC jpg. I would have assumed that this would happen automatically, if no edits were...
