Let's see, same lens, sensor and IIRC processor as the P7700. Is there any reason to expect image characteristics to any different from the P7700 (ie, excellent)?

I never indicated preference of zoom range vs sensor size. 28-200 (equivalent) range is a foundational spec of the P7xxx series. If they were to drastically upsize the sensor at a cost of reducing...

Good luck fitting a "compact" f/2.0 - 4.0 lens with 7x zoom in front of that sensor...

IMO no eye sensor is a deal breaker, not a downer.

I used a P7700 as my carry-everywhere camera for 6 months and never used that settings dial on the upper left corner (where the EVF will live now in the P7800.) IMO this is a superb change. I hope...

This review states the Oly XZ-2 has optical IS. Everywhere else I read it's sensor-based IS (same as in the XZ-1). I strongly suspect this review is mistaken. Can dpreview confirm?

I'm not convinced. Is a lowest-spec'd SLT really that much lighter? Once you accept the bulk of a camera like the A3000 (holster-type case, space in your backpack/carry-everywhere bag/whatever)...

I cannot figure out a reason for this camera's existence. What does it offer over an entry-level SLT model (or generic entry-level DSLR for that matter)? Is the price floor that different? And...

That thumbrest looks like it would be very effective! I agree a more pronounced grip would drastically change the appearance of the camera; whether it would ruin it is subjective. :-)
I'll admit I...

Everytime I look at an X10/20 I the first thing I think is, why does it not have a better handgrip?
Between the slippery surface and non-substantial rib on the body, I found I couldnt get a...

1) That inconsistency between P & Av modes seems to occur only when total light levels incur P-mode exposure settings around 1/30, F/1.8 @ ISO 80-100. (at full wide angle obviously.)
This is when...

I think the camera does not support different values for DRC between different modes (?) But I could be wrong. But also, I think I had DRC off when I was doing my tests. But I'll have to...

P mode balances 3 exposure parameters (T, A, and ISO values, assuming ISO is set to auto).
T & Av modes let the user set 1 while the camera balances the other 2.
What I take from the above is that...
