I took note, and now want to try this too. It'll be evening downtown Ottawa shots in my case (bypassing the $250 price of admission). And also without other people's wants (aka toddlers) tugging at...

Cool. You'll have to share some pictures. Never mind the technical aspects at this point, you're already on your way. Become one...with the camera, get into...the scene... I'd love to see coastal...

So you must be very unhappy with the SLTs then. I'm not seeing any video artifacts myself.
I coded up all kinds of algorithms like this 15 years ago, using C++ and assembler.
I've said all along...

+1 on the silliness. But what's confusing me these days is the upconverting of frame rates that some tvs offer now. I happen to be in the store watching Monsters Inc on a bunch of tvs side by side....
-
A bit, but not double, because the difference between each frame is less.
Line skipping. Binning. I've never seen these terms in graphic processing or the programming world. They're terms made up...
-
Yes and no. The sharpness aspect is a separate issue than the noise aspect. For sharpness, one could line skip at regular intervals.
First the sharpness. The GH2 sensor has 4592 x 3056 pixels. HD...

Not too crazy about mythical characters, but never mind that.
Quality is pretty bad. Looks processed and not very real. There is much wrong with this picture.

I'm almost certain that this just purely because of really lousy algorithms that Sony picked. It's just a really crappy implementation. It has to be a purely a software problem, crappy programming.

I'd personally not look for new lenses at all! All this, destroys any super zoom, so what's left to improve on? A 35/1.8 prime perhaps, for those indoor low light shots? The 17-50/2.8 might do...

I never considered the bitrate to be a shortcoming on my A57. I record in 60p all the time, and it's what, 28mb/s? Seems enough. Colors look right, not seeing any problematic artifacting from...

Probably because the SLTs (don't know about the A99) use line-skipping. I think each HD video pixel is taken from 4 pixels from the sensor source, distributed according to how much it overlaps each...

I've seen tests that show that the Tamron and Sony 18-250 are the sharpest of the super zooms, not the 18-270.
But all the superzooms distort badly, are soft in the corners, aren't tack sharp. You...

I disagree. I think the information is simply not there. Not in this highly exaggerated example. Oh, and trust me, I'm not puzzled, and I don't believe in magic.
-
I think the example is fake because there details in the "improved" version that do not exist in the "original".

Richard, I don't know if this would be helpful, but I found some downloadable VMs from Microsoft that gives you access to different browser...

I bet $0.25 worth of hardware can scale that resolution to HD resolution and do it with Lanczos nice scaling as well. This type of algorithm is a dime a dozen. I'm seeing 4K resolution $100 Android...

We should start a bet.
My prediction is that the A77 follow up will:
1) cost between $1200 and $15002) will allow SLT and non-SLT modes. (I haven't seen anyone coin this idea).3) be with SSS...

I had the A65 for a few weeks before exchanging it for the A57, Early last year.
I observed the video of the A65 to be of lesser quality than the A57, and too dark because of the ISO 1600...

Fact is that ISO with video is limited to 1600, and that that is just one tad too low. 3200 is barely enough in so many living rooms. Not something the A77 can deliver.
Activity older than 12 months is not displayed.
