The only way to separate the true photographers from the technologically enabled ones is to reinvent film again. The technology is killing the art and these portraits are poor to say the least!

LIGHT SABRE ELTERIBLE: Seriously catch a wake up people. Nikon is a corporation. Their sole aim is to identify gaps in the market and exploit those gaps for financial gain. Like any successful corporation they do this very well. Yes I am completely against big game hunting if it is not regulated correctly and if it makes no provision for proper conservation. Conservation and regulation of hunting practices is not Nikon's Job or any other photographic companies job for that matter. Their job is to produce the best quality equipment that will suit the needs of their different market segments. And that job they do very well. Nikon and many other photographic companies have been making scopes for years and I guarantee you many of those scopes have been used to hunt big game. What exactly is the difference here?!?

So help me understand this please.....they can produce hunting scopes and various other hunting related accessories such as rangefinders, binoculars and monoculars specifically marketed for hunting and not much of a fuss is made. But as soon as they produce a scope aimed at big game hunting people climb up onto their high horses and act like this has never happened before!

My appologies. I only just read the rule that no optical filters are allowed. Feel free to judge my shot accordingly then. I just hope you like my shot.

LIGHT SABRE ELTERIBLE: If somebody could plese give me some positive critisism as to why my entry finished in 95th place in this challange, especially the 7 people who voted my shot as 1 star or less. I am a little perplexed as to why it did so poorly as I feel it is a beautifu shot which took a lot of skill and patience to get my lighting just right to achieve the low key atmosphere that I got.

Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated! I do like this shot. The low key lighting was done on purpose as my goal was to have her beautiful facial features stand out. I think the strange colour cast comes from a small halogen spotlight bouncing off of a gold reflector. A bit more post processing may have done sorted that out. But once again, thank you for the feedback. there is always room for improvement.

Deleted pending purge: All the rules are to be observed BEFORE entering a Challenge. Disregarding the rule disqualifies an entry and there are no two ways about it...

All the rules also need to be observed before voting!

RuthC: Isn't it amazing that this entrant was able to upload this photo to his gallery on August 14th 2012, yet he only took the shot on 21st September???

Even more amazing is that people voted on this image!! The voters are as much to blame as the host who did not disqualify the image!!!! This has become an increased trend in the challanges which is very sad!!!!!

To the 4 people who gave this image a rating of 1 star....you clearly misunderstood the point ofthis challange. This image deserved a top 3 placing in my opinion!

I am seriously begining to doubt the voting system and many ofthe people who vote on these challanges. Firstly before I say anything else....1st and 2cnd place, very deserving of your placing. Really stunning shots. There are however many shots that do not deserve there placings in this challange and one in the top 15 that should have been disqualified for not adhearing to the rules "no watermarks, no borders". Challange hosts seriously need to start disqualifying entries that have not adheard to the rules and voters need to carefully read the brief of a challange before voting. The fact that an image of a plane and an insect found theire way into this challange and then beat some fantastic entries that were deserving of far better placings blows my mind..... I appeal to all voters in challanges to please take your time to indipendantly critisize each entry based on the brief and the rules and then vote accordingly. Otherwise there is no point to these challanges.
