RichRMA: It's still a glorified Coolpix, really. I can't really see the point in having interchangeable lenses on a camera like that, except for novelty purposes. Nikon and Canon; the DSLR "boom" isn't going to last forever so would it really threaten your entire existence to release at least 1 (no pun intended) serious mirror-less?
fully agree, the 1 inch is a capable size to work with, but the standard zoom is degrading the 1 series to a PxS.Plus the pricetag is, well, enough said about that. Can understand the small form factor requires a small lens, but if the standard zoom would be a lot bigger, more serious people would jump into it.Cut the lens trick to compress 81 into 30 mm, simply make the lens 81 mm long, open up the aperture to f1.8.
Did not read the full article, but
no EVF and fixed screen, i would have expected an articulated LCD.
Love the ID, look sa bit like the Ricoh CX3 i had afew years ago, ago, ago
great, love drones when used for this, nature in all it aspects, much less intrusive than people
There must be a market for these things,
Nikon keeps investing in their 1 series, now Samsung.
I don't get it really, The NX300 costs almost the same, with a18/55.
Probably a style exercise, a model to create as thin lenses as possible.
Now their engineers have a platform to try thsoe thin lenses, if it fails, than it is because of the mini, so the mini dies and the other cameras do not suffer from it.
Still i don't get it, there is absolutley no benfit whatsoever in using a 1 sensor over a 1/1.7.
Enough enthousiasts cameras in the same price range that perform just as good.
A 1 cannot create bokeh with these small and slow lenses anyhow.
this is new, DPR openly dares to quesion the existance of a Nikon.
Great piece of journalism guys, i think you summarised perfectly what most of us think about this 1 series. To behonoust, if Samsung, Pana, Sony or any other but Canon would have made the 1 series, it would have been gone long time. Its because Nikon is known fo rits outstanding DSLRs that people still migth believe the 1 seires must have something.
They have, but the pricetag is simply way off Immediatly half the price , and the thing might start selling, it will blow all PxS away. and PxS i mean the top end of the PxS at 3-400 usd.
1200, does it hoover?
Never understood this 1 strategy, damn smartphones, software is taking over, these 1 cameras are actually the new PxS things, only the price doesn't fit, what am i missing ?
hope to see a review soon,
the button config seems to be Pentax and not Ricoh, i hope the UI is Ricoh , if not, stop confusing me and rebadge it back to Pentax.
When Ricoh announced the Theta, i pxxxxd my pants laughing,
but who is laughing now.
I want one
this is what you get after spending 4000 Usd on a full frame and pro lens.
135 mm, f2.8,full frame.
Look similar to Leica Noctilux 50/f0.95 on a M9.
i love them a lot.
I cannot believe heavy pp was used, maybe some vignetting, but the hardware she uses can generate these pics out of camera.
So indeed strange why she gets coverage at DPR, so many many other great ones on 500px?
steadily growing, i bet you we once will buy a DPR camera....
So basically it does what Photosynth does, only you need to drag extra hardware and pay 300 for it?
What am i missing?
Ricoh management, really, wake up and spent your engineering time in camera design.
Thanks God i never sold my Ricoh CX6,
this is a rebadged Pentax, probably a sketch that fell off the designers desk and a buss guy noticed it, hey, we did not bring anything new under Ricoh lately, lets use this, it sits between the Pentax Optio 10 and 18,
it has the Pentax button layout, and oh, Ricoh,
I hope you understand in Europ we no longer use stones to carve in, a 230 K dot LCD?? please, my CX6 uses a 1.2 mio.
You can buy an almost new CX6 at roughly 100 euro, so, this HZ-whatever, will it sell at , say 30 euro or more?
What a waste, i'm a Ricoh fan and really feel obused now, i still cannot sit.....
curious to see how it outperforms "smaller " sensors, like the Ricoh GR with an APS-C.
And how surprised i am to see that even in the corners, like the watch, the brushes, fine font at bottom, the Ricoh outperforms both the RX 1 and the RX1R.(by quit a bit too)
What is wrong here?
Please DPR, i think you need to do this fotoshoot for both the sonys again to give them the honour they deserve.
yes Vivid, or user defined settings punch the colors, thsat is simply standard on all Ricohs
The GR is made for enthousiasts of perfect pictures, so i'm pleased to see that DPR made the ffrot of including lots of optical graphs in their review, this is pixel peeping at its best to find that last bit of detail.
great update, forum filter tabs; fantastic, user experience really improoves, congrats
suddenly the taoy Q camera of a few years ago becomes very interesting, when the Q came out, i could not stop laughing, but now, it all seem to make sence what they did back than.
C O N G R A T S D P R E V I E W
This is a serious and real handy upgrade
I love it, so then thumbs up
great, not a coninkon or a sony, but an oly
