On Nikon D4 & D800: What do the Professionals Think? article (391 comments in total)

I'm so very excited about this camera!!! I've always loved taking pictures and got a used Nikon D700 a year ago, but now the D800 will allow me to become a true professional. I don't think I want to do photography for a living, but I like knowing that all my pictures will have that professional looking quality about them.

On Flickr poised for much-needed interface improvements article (81 comments in total)
In reply to:

hindesite: I hope that they don't make any changes that break 3rd party uses of Flickr - I use it mainly because it (had) good 3rd party tools for uploading and also for viewing content - like Flickriver, and OnBlack, for example. Consequently the interface was not very important to me.

RSS feeds out to blogs were also extremely useful to me. I hope they don't break those. It also worked with Yahoo! Pipes (though that might not be around for long).

You should email their customer service and let them know you are concerned about their new upgrade, more specifically, the impact it may have on RSS.

On Fujifilm produces limited edition of 10,000 black X100s article (100 comments in total)
In reply to:

Richard Murdey: List price is 160,000 yen, currently retailing at 144,000 yen for preorders. A new silver X100 will set you back 86,500 yen, but the extra accessories add 13,000 or so.

The premium for "black" and "limited" and "not available yet" is about 45,000 yen.

what is a Yen and how do I get 144,000 of them?

noneyabidnis: sweet baby jesus - thank you for making the credit card company increase my limit by another 6 grand. I HAVE to HAVE this camera.

Whatever. It's an investment. Look at how much artwork created by Picasso, Van Gogh, Da Vinci, Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, etc. is worth today. How is one supposed to create valuable art-work with sub-par gear?

I just hope Best Buy will still take back the XBOX 360 I got my kids for Christmas. It hasn't been used much so far - and the money will help cover the tax on this puppy that my credit increase doesn't quite reach.
