About me:

At 61 I am still struggling with the switch from 35mm film & learning photoshop &
computers. I am fortunate in bring able to travel several times a year. Whales & other
assorted wildlife in Alaska or Mauii. New York or Vagas etc. I have 15 grandchildren
from
2yrs to 21yrs.& I live in Southern La., 6 blocks from the lake & across from an
exersize
trail ,(the trace}, which leads to a trail with public concerts & a state park with plenty
of wildlife. . As for glass I presently have a sigma 30 1'4, an old
50 1'8, a a 17-55 2.8is, a 24-105L4, a 70-200L4is, an 85 1.8, a
135 2, a 20-35 { old model] but I got it new, a 400 5.6, a 100 macro, a 5D & a 7D.
I have a 530 speed light &
I use a Velborn tri pod & a kirby ball head. I have a couple of 1.4 extenders. One
reporting & one not.
a manfrotto monopod
& am making a sometimes vain attempt at using a mac book pro & CS4 for my Photos.
I forgot , I have a speed light 580 Ex. For printing I have the HP 9180. It allows the
creativity to come out by allowing me to use different media for printing & the use of
pigment colors which I love.

Some time in the
future I would like . a fast wide prime for ff & a 200 2.8. I would like to improve
my skills . I am
presently
being overwelled with people asking for copies of my pict. I started a flicker account
which is under grammieb2008 if anyone is interested. I am not good technically &
arrive by most photographic technique by trial & error.

Mor battery life, faster wifi & cellular processing. More resolution on the lcd screen. Looks great & has stabilization in camera. Apple Care & anything else people want in a camera. Bab. Mine is ordered.

Everyone I know has iPhone & I have 6 cameras & 22 lenses so I don't shoot many images with a phone. My computers are MacBook Pro & iMac & I have an iPad so everything works together with the same system. I don't look at other brands & don't know what they have. Bab

Do the other phone cameras have moving photos? That is my favorite part. Bab

Why are all the M3 images shown in the M forum & the M3 photo section of Flickr so good & these so very poor? Bab

Caerolle: Wait til the newest slow zoom drops, this will be in the running for Camera of the Year!

I think I finally *have* figured out how Canon perceives this to be an enthusiast camera, though: if you think of it as part of the PowerShot line, an interchangeable lens P&S, then it probably is.

It isn't Canon or the M3 that is bad. It is who ever took & processed these shots. They aren't even labeled with the correct lens information. I f I were part of depreview staff, I would be embarrassed to put these here. Someone really hates Canon to let these stand. Bab

All the shots taken by M owners in the Canon M forum are great. I don't know who took these photos, but dpreview needs to get someone who is at least trying to take a decent image to take these shots. Why are you giving such bad examples?

matander: The NX1 is definitely worth gold! Before and even more after FW 1.30 update.
I used it this weekend with FW1.30 and 18-55 ki tlens at a running event in Gothenburg with very high hit rate. Firmware 1.30 radically improves lowlight AF performance and the new Zone AF with together with Continuous AF or Active AF works great for subject tracking. Connectivity, cropability, ISO performance is icing on the cake. I cannot understand people saying ISO performance of NX1 is bad, especially comparing it to 7D II.
Some lens options are still missing, especially long tele (fixed and zooms) but the lenses that are available is mostly better than the competition.

The video features and performance outshines the competition by a margin, subject tracking is much better than GH4 (dont know if 7d II does focus tracking in video or live view AF).
FW 1.30 boosted the Video capability further vith fullHD 120 fps (4x SloMo) and improved rollingshutter for 4k video.

Is Diamond available?

You two can believe whatever floats your boat. I look at the above charts & see the 5D lll with a clean 3500 shot. I shoot venues with this camera all the time & never have a problem. I have had it since it came out & it.is a wonderful all aroun camera. I have a ton o great glass & no complaints. You two do what you do best, bragging about what you own & making obvious & unsuccessful attempts to discredit others while patting yourselves on the back. I am going out to shoot & enjoy my cameras. The fly in your ointment is that at 3200, the Canon 5d s has less noise & better resolution than the nex. The 810 did too. You haven't proven anything. Side by side the 5Dlll has better iq than this camera. If it looked worse because of higher resolution, the same would hold true for the high resolution 5Ds & thr D810. Bab

With most of those who comment on this kind of news, the opinion is if the award or high score goes to the camera they use or favor, the results are perfect. The are scientific & insightful. If they go in favor of a brand they don't favor or use, the organization is old hat & corrupt. I use what I like & if I don't like it, I save up for something else. I care about my images & learning more & more until I am gone. I don't care what others use & if they are happy with what they have, good for them. There are many brands & types of photography. There are good cameras out their that will work for most of these people. Different ones work for different people. Find the one you like & quit wasting your time complaining about the ones you don't like. Bab

Good for Canon. DR is not even close to being the most important image quality in a camera. I don't shoot images in the dark & I try to properly expose my images. I have lifted shadows in PP & never had problems. I do some landscapes, but do much more action, portrait, event shots. I take indoor shots of fast moving kids & don't use flash. I have no problems with my IQ. Bab

I get your point. I am just more interested in what images I get & love from my camera than charts, bragging rights & pixel peeking. What you want me to do has no bearing on my images & the way I use them. I take sports shots, action shots of grandkids, dancing violin recitals, awards programs at their schools. Portraits, parties & events. Wildlife, bif etc. I post some, print some & enjoy the process & results. I don't enjoy resizing & comparing photos to pixel peep or comparing DXO scores. To each his own. Bab

I have tried the 6D against the 5Dlll & their is basically no difference in image quality between the two. There is however a large difference in af ability & that is the deal breaker for me. To each his own. Bab

You shoot with all these cameras & extract raw photos from them? The majority of those who knock 5D lll are those who don't own one. Most of those who own one appreciate what the camera can do. If I wasn't happy with the equipment I have, I would buy something else. Besides the only statement that I made originally is that the 5D lll is better at 3200 which it obviously is. Knocking the 5D lll seems to be a hobby here. I have no intention of getting into a tiresome DR is everything debate. There is nothing wrong with the 5D lll at high ISO speeds. I shoot events indoors all the time with mine & never use flash & have great results. That is all I need. If you need something different go for it. Bab

I just looked again at studio test shots at 3200. The 6D & 5Dlll are identical & they are very close to the D750. I am looking at face shots. You are looking at what may I ask? Bab

I am judging by the examples above. I put in both cameras at 3200 & 5Dlll looks much better. I don't see where 6D or D750 look better. I am looking at the examples above, not at a chart of what is supposed to be better. Bab

I have a sl-1 for light travel when I don't bring my 5Dlll or 7Dll. Does anyone know how the M3 compares to the sl-1. They both use Canon lenses & are small & portable. I would love to find someone who has used both to see what their opinion comparing the two cameras. Bab

At ISO 3200 IQ doesn't come close to FF. it has a lot going for it , but IQ at high ISO isn't nearly as good as FF. I compared ISO 3200 to 5D lll. No contest.
