gentlemen, this is the future.
all cameras will have to be "connected" in the very same manner as they all now have video mode.
Kodachrome200: I honestly dont know why anyone defends leica. there two latest inventions are an $8000 dollar camera body that can only take black and white pictures with lacklustre technology and 50mm f/2 prime lens that also cost $8000. You can buy them both for the cost the finest camera in the world and a selection of the finest lenses that would make most pros jealous and most any other photographic tools you could want and you could still probably throw in a reliable used car. Of course then you wouldnt have a camera that only took black and white pictures and 1 50mm prime lens.
the absolutely maddening thing is a bunch of people are gonna respond with how crappy traditional dslrs are and how it is absolutely worth it to forgo that dreamlist of gear in order to have this
"I honestly dont know why anyone defends leica."
not necessarily, I defend CHOICE
MaikeruN: Dear posters below,
It doesn't matter what you say, about the price, the design, the principles, values, practicality, etc. This camera will sell. People are going to buy it. People will love it. They won't have enough of it. Leica is still going to be around, possibly a lot longer than you. And you know what? They're gonna make more limited edition products just like this.
I don't own a Leica, maybe I never will, but as a fellow photographer, I think it's pretty cool to spice some stuff up a bit sometimes. If you don't get at all excited over anything camera related (and it applies to all the other product announcements) then maybe photography ain't for you. Unless you're just a boring purist photographer, in which case you should just buy yourself an SD1 and not bother posting anything at all.
Please stop crying.
if you really care about the "poor", you should rejoice that people spend 50k on a camera.
you do realize that the 15-20% applicable tax will go for the benefit of the common men, do you?
and if someone has 50k to buy a camera, who are you to know that they wont ALSO do charity? maybe they wont but i tell you what i know, they SPEND money and EMPLOY people who create the services the "rich" can and will go for.
wake up
kelvinjay: Those sample images really do a good job at showing how poorly the camera can perform. Maybe another photographer would have been able to get better results, but those are just shocking.
The one of the girl laying down holding the Nikon is just full of blown highlights and has no detail in the brighter areas of her jacket. The girl in the back of the cab has her nose blown out too. These aren't just insignificant parts of the compositions.
i dont want to start a "fight", i really dont.
but you could take your comment above and apply it to 90pct of these pictures

are highlights here and there really the best unit of measure?
read all the posts, haters and fans.
then i look at the samples and... wow, those are amazing pictures, they just look... yummy.
maybe it's just me....
when they sky's white i often just give it a shot in black and white, could have worked nicely given the theme ??
nice pic tho!
