thanks for the link. Nice review and he takes good pictures too.
His product shots of the camera are actually better than on ricoh website.

That's not provocative at all. I had a few.. I still keep an old 5D, few primes and wide zoom for architectural stuff.
it's not about choosing between FF and compact, but choosing the best compact...

I dont get the size - zeiss website says 86 /81 (with caps?) , but when pictured with the camera it looks smaller to me. full frame Zeiss 18/3,5 designed around bigger sensor and much longer...

I'm not sure, if I'll get a ricoh again. I'm temped, but I need a system camera.

I actually sold the grd, because I was bored by the IQ indistinguishable from the rest of compacts..
I got your point, but doesn't "boring high IQ"sound a bit perverted?:)
I don't want to bash GRD...

I think it's actually 3:2, as it worked fine on my sigma dp1. I can be wrong though.. I sold mine few years ago.
btw. it's great, that GR is finaly 3:2. I dont like using 4:3 except some...

agreed. GR body, 1" sensor and compact lenses.

I'd prefer it over nikon even with slightly inferior IQ. The greatest thing to me is how thin they were able to keep it. Even a small MILC with 28mm prime is way bigger
-
I guess we have a different taste :)
I always consider ricoh gr's to be the best looking compacts. It looks so good, I wan't one, despite I obviously don't need a fixed 28.

I had a ricoh GRD and the build and ergonomics was way better than any compact I've owned in last 10 years.
The longer body with enough room for thumb and grip are great. It's slimer then nikon A...

nice camera, but needs some (wide) compact ef-s primes to make sens

I believe that the Tamron is an ok lens. I have the IF version and the focus is reasonably fast and quiet. I compared mine to friends 17-40, which has much better build and slightly better corners,...

dust in the viewfinder is certainly no problem with J1 :)
I don't think, that upgrade from J1 to J3 makes a lot of sense especially at current prices. I'd rather save money, or get some lenses.

but that's why they could make the mody thinner. I'd drop the flash too, but obviously majority wants it.

despite I'm sure it will be a great lens, the more I think about it, it just doesn't make sense for me. The new canon 100D weights the same as V1 and if I use my 50/1.4, the combo will not be much...

if there was a FF sensor, no flash and it wasn't so ugly, I might be interested.
-
It's also about the pricing. When the price is right, they don't have to perform as good as bigger sensor cameras and still be competitive.
Oly was succesfull with m4/3, when they stopped trying...
