Replied in 10 years here and you still don't use ; on big samples?
Add the ; to huge samples....

Replied in They may be simulating for explanation.
Here is a Nikon sample from their page:

It looks very subtle to me.

Replied in D800 with unsharp looks like D800E... look
I agree with the OP, the 800E sample just looks like a slightly over-processed version of the 800 sample. The contrast curve reminds me of standard definition Video camera frame caps.

Replied in They may be simulating for explanation.
What is the Original source of those images? If it is some ad copy explaining the difference between AA filter and not having it, they may have simulated it from shots from the same camera.
I...

Commented on Nikon D800 and D800E 36MP full-frame DSLRs announced news story
Deleting the AA filter from a camera at the factory shouldn't increase it's price.

I did a transparency crop overlay of the hotshoes, they look the same to me.

Replied in Not that much smaller.
Anecdotal information all over the place including here:

Replied in Lens money pit, no thanks, Show a better CSC carry setup.
Most non pros aren't really interested in the lens money pit. They want one lens to do it all.
My only interest in a CSC was to get a big sensor in a smaller package, with one general purpose...

Replied in It's digital, not film. Re: Why is the Canon GX1 so huge?
Really? People are still dredging up these film comparisons.
*Different technologies, create different tradeoffs*. Should be obvious if you think about it.
You can really only compare the...

Replied in Not that much smaller.
It is only really larger in the in height. Width and thickness are the same within a couple of mm. Thickness is really the primary concern for carry and it is about the same.
Lets also be...

Replied in Not that much smaller.
First I don't argue with dumping a pre-order. I would never pre-order anything. I only buy known quantities.
It also isn't that much smaller, and this is the smallest interchangeable zoom on...

Replied in Same here, but I would love sensor in pocket compact.
Same here, but this seems like an awesome sensor for a pocket, compact with a small built in retractable zoom.

Commented on Just Posted: Nikon 1 V1 and J1 review news story
Agree. I would really like to see Nikon put this sensor in a fixed lens compact camera. That would likely be a good compromise between camera size/quality. You could then build a much smaller...

Replied in More terrible Aliasing.
Canon really dropped the ball on video.
The aliasing is terribly distracting, if I was the least bit interested in video, I would be looking at competing products.
-
Replied in Not Unless Sony starts making smaller lenses.
I don't care if the body is as thin as a pencil, you need small lenses if you want the smallest carry setup. Panasonic really has the lead in this respect. I think the G1x is likely a more compact...

Replied in G1X Video Analysis
I am not impressed either. It is much worse than their DSLR video.
It is bad enough to imagine the video quality is this bad for the production G1x, but it is unimaginable that future Digic 5...

Created thread How does Nikon 1 do Phase Detect Autofocus?
Are there any technical details on how Nikon is doing this?
Does the sensor sacrifice some pixels for phase detection sensors? Are they able to do this with normal pixels on a...

Replied in Could be the best Sensor I have seen.
I have slight leanings toward Canon and healthy skepticism about Fuji and their funky sensor layouts.
But I think they have done an excellent job here, from what I have seen so far(looking at...

Replied in No Such claim made. Use the real source, not a paraphrase.
Here is the actual press release. Not an interpretation by some online news source, and the only paragraph that says anything about firsts, no claims about an industry first, just that it is...

Replied in Need to be realistic about possible lenses.
I would love that lens too, but I don't think I have ever seen anyone build anything close to that in this size/price range.
I have a hard time thinking of any F2.8 24mm zoom lenses on a sensor...
