In RAW you can see that the X100s files have some amount of NR added, they look smooth and noise free but the GR is much sharper
-
ISO 400/800 looks nasty on the blue area of the globe
-
on the D600 stopped down a bit the 35 f2 isn't bad at all, strangely on my D800E that same lens is tac sharp wide open, I've tried 2 copies of the 35 f2 and both performed the same.
it's usable...

maybe, they probably make better optics
here is one sample I found on flickr, wide open at almost 135mm http://www.flickr.com/photos/30040231@N02/8690022254/in/photolist-eeUCRU-eeNWGp-eeUA47/

I've yet to see any photos from this lens wide open showing good sharpness.

I ran some tests with my x100s and Ricoh GR, the GR nailed focus every time in low light where as the x100s failed around 80% of the time, thankfully I don't really use either in low light.
-
Ray, I like what you saw and tried to capture but I have to say that I find the low angle hip-shooting very distracting which kinda kills the shots in more cases, the one with the people on the...

I sent my x100 in to get repaired for the wonky OVF issue when it returns one button and the wheel right didn't work any longer.
maybe yours is faulty, send/take it back to the shop

I think you would be as wise to try the Fuji 18-55 yourself once you get the Fuji body, the 18-55 scored well on several review sites and a lot of people like it, I personally didn't, the Fuji X...

AF speed is fine, not as fast as the 105VR macro but still quite quick, superb lens though, some complain that its not sharp at f2 but mine is tac sharp.
-
you're talking about swapping one APS-C system for another, the OP was asking in regards to a move from a full frame sensor DSLR to an X-Pro system, the D300 is a noce camera but IQ wise it's not a...

The Fuji primes are nice but the 18-55 is just so so, I would stick with the D800E and get a light weight zoom like the Nikon 24-85G VR and for wide the 18-35G.
ive heard that the Fuji 14mm is very...

My trio are Sigma 35 f1.4, Nikon 85 f1.4D and Nikon 135 f2, I also have the 50 f1.8G which I use as just a one lens solution for shooting street along with the x100s
-
I'd say that you've a bad copy, I've both the Sigma 35mm f1.4 and Nikon 18-35G, at 35mm the Nikon is sharp wide open
-
The Sigma 50-150 f2.8 is an APS-C telephoto lens which is much shorter than it's FF equivalent
a faster aperture you mean? not as fast to focus though or as much reach as say the Nikon 55-300
-
£1500, hummm the Nikon 70-200 f4 is less than a £1000, I'm sure that for a say a child the 14mm, 35mm, 18-55 and 55-200 plus body would feel like their shoulders and back were killing too.
why do...

I agree it's a compromise but it just doesn't look that great, it might perform well optically and from the samples I've seen so far stopped down just a touch it does, which is inline with several...

I think you'll find that the fuji is 176mm at 200m unless you're only shooting at 55mm
I don't care about a few grams because A: I'm not a wimp B: The quality is worth it
-
I think you'll fing it's 1610g for the Nikon, sure the Nikon is heavier but it's in a different league and built to a much higher quality, plus it's full frame
Activity older than 12 months is not displayed.
