Nice start. Shooting in harsh bright light is difficult, try shooting in manual exposure.

If it is not Bokeh don't fix it. I know a very good photographer who uses Photoshop to produce Bokeh in his photos. Now that I know it I can see it in in his photos and find it distracting.
