  • Replied in Pentax K- S1
I don't know, maybe this is a great dslr, and I believe it is because Pentax usually know what they are doing in terms of image quality and functionality (and handling). Generally speaking a ...
  • I don't know how he managed to process the images in the OP the way they were. I opened the two images intact on IR site's comparometer and the 645Z overall is miles ahead of the D.
  • I have, including Ians. It seems to me Ian has somewhat reduced both cams (images) to their lowest common denominator. The Original 645D image seems to me to be sharper than both his profiled ...
  • Venting slits. It will work at 50 degrees or more. The first global-warming-ready (GWR) DSLR. ;)
  • I think you are right. The samples in previous posts, seeming excessively sharpened and "clarified" - with clarity raised, as is evident in the straw basket rail, just emphasize that there's an ...
  • Something like this?
  • Replied in K-01, K-S1
Got it. Roughly. But the prevailing gripe against the K-01 was that it was too big and chunky for a mirrorless. So Pentax now responded with a lean, mirrorless.. lookalike. Isn't it strange? I ...

If it only were a mirrorless... It probably also wouldn't have such an enormous mirror bulge. And k-01 was so chunky, yet unfortunately had no EVF, DSLR ergonomics, or tilting LCD.
  • Replied in K-01, K-S1
First a mirrorless with no viewfinder having DSLR proportions, now a DSLR that desperately tries to look like a mirrorless. I just hope it speaks Japanese.
  • OT: I wish they had a 25mm f2 or something at that build, simplicity, IQ and price point. Could have been a terrific hit IMO.
  • Fortunately though the distinction between video-centric and photo centric bodies may be coming to a close; Is the new 12Mp FF Sony sensor better for video or high iso photos, whould you say? ...
  • Jim, target cohort should include those currently opting to use brands other than Pentax.
  • Yes, I know what you mean. For me, the process of downloading the files to the computer has become somewhat of a burden... The GR does look nice, if only it had a way to change the lens :) Oh and ...
  • Replied in Limpkin
    >Thanks. I don't see those color casts on my monitors (MB-Pro, 27" iMac). Are you using an icc-aware browser? Yes, though not a calibrated one. They are quite subtle, especially the magenta, and I ...

First two are wonderful, some of the more impressive k-3 photos i've seen. Is it only my monitor, or does the grass on some of the other really show a bluish cast, and the straw a bit magenta?
  • Thanks Nate, these are nice images but somehow the k-x, or the da35 does so much more justice to your photographic skills. Yes, I will probably also go the mirrorless (with a built in viewfinder) ...
  • Works indeed. Wonderful photos!! Serenity, Recede, Stroll are my favourites. Looking at them I can't help wonder what you can get with your I phone. Thanks for sharing
  • Yes, film is the best. Ask Kodak..
  • I don't see a definite long term advantage to FF. Yes, FF sensor will (potentially) always be a step ahead in IQ, but nowdays even m4/3 are nearly as capable as aps-c, and the smaller sensors will ...
  • Olympus has been using Sony chips in some of its current models, as far as I know, as are Nikon, Sony (imaging) and Pentax. I think you are mixing up Sony imaging with Sony Semiconductor, the ...
