Placed 50^th in the challenge. FIRST AND UNFORGETTABLE! The celebration of the first year of life is very traditional in Brazil. MORE THAN 300 PEOPLE attended this party, to eat a piece of a HUGE cake, which means all the achievements and lessons learned in this first phase of his existence. He was born at 10th-oct-2010.

Placed 53^rd in the challenge. The Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia) is a tiny but long-legged owl found throughout open landscapes of North and South America. Burrowing Owls can be found in grasslands, rangelands, agricultural areas, deserts, or any other open dry area with low vegetation. They nest and roost in burrows, such as those excavated by prairie dogs . Unlike most owls, Burrowing Owls are often active during the day, although they tend to avoid the midday heat. But like many other kinds of owls, Burrowing Owls do most of their hunting from dusk until dawn, when they can use their night vision and hearing to their advantage. This one was photographed in a provincial city of São Paulo, Brazil, on the banks of a lake near my house.
