Yeah, it's high on my list, too.

Replied in Update on D800E in Australia
That /is/ very interesting! I did think the difference would be small, but it sounds as though it can be made to be alomst non existent.
Thank you for the link.

Replied in And the point of that would be?
As far as I can tell, the amateurs seem to take better photos than the pros!
So, having a seperate forum for amateurs would do what, exactly? Or, more to the point, having a seperate forum for...

Replied in My thoughts exactly
My thoughts exactly.
I find that it is better to underexpose and boost shadows than try to rescue highlights. The D800 seems to not like the highlights as much as the shadows.

This was exactly what I was thinking.
Like you, I didn't even know there was an amateur or pro forum.

Replied in Would a D800 improve these photos....
Probably wouldn't be any better than those, they are excellent. However, if you needed to print them large, then having the extra Mp's would help. :-)

Replied in 200 f/2 or 300 f/2.8 VR?
If you don't want to carry your 400 f2.8 around, yet still want the /option/ of shooting that long or longer, then get the 300 f2.8 VRII and use the 1.4x TC and 2x TCIII. The 70-200 will cover the...

Replied in An often overlooked advantage of the 300 + TC's route
An often overlooked advantage of the 300 + TC's route is that your minimum focus stays the same, in this case the 300mm f2.8 VRII minimum focus is 2.3mts, but you get the actual focal length of the...

Replied in Sigma 500mm f/4.5
I think you must have had a bad copy of the 300 f2.8 or the 2x TCIII. I mean, to say that the 300 f2.8 loses /all/ it's magic is just plain wrong as I have had nothing but great results with that...

Ever heard of tracking a bird in flight? They don't sit still whilst you conveniently frame it perfectly. Therefore, whilst it is flying along and you're trying to track it, perfect framing is...

1) These cameras are consumer or prosumer, not professional and their AF systems are not as fast or accurate.

Possibly. Jpeg only has a DR of about 9 stops at best, once highlights are clipped, they are lost. Also, the NR post process is much better working on RAW files than jpegs. You can adjust exposre...
