well what do you have ?ENEMIES?
Perhaps you didn't realize that having friends vote for you was unethical. Mistakes happen. However, this photo and it's 1st place finish has generated a lot of controversy. Many feel that it did not have merit for such a placement.
I didnt MAKE my friends vote for my photos..dont have that much time. I had made my decision of quitting dpreview but Steve asked me to stay back. I have also stopped posting comments after learning how ignorant one can be about other civilizations(referring to Voodoo).
For me it feels good to come first but if I dont come first, like in this challenge its not a problem. The problem is that friends who are members of this challenge vote for me(I think) in the same way as the bicycle challenge in which I came first..so I am really confused and hurt about the vote spiking allegations.
I had entered in this challenge and my photo came 150th in this challenge..can someone please explain to me what this VOTE SPIKING is all about?
Satyaki congrats really nice shot..where was this taken?
I dont quite understand this concept of vote spiking...there are friends who take interest in photography and who are members of this website and they vote for me I know that for a fact...however..this is the last time I will enter a challenge on dpreview.
Hi, I was a bit surprised myself when this came 3rd..I agree with you that it is a bit cluttered.
I have friends to vote for my photographs, but the same friends have alos voted (and I think in the same way) uin other challenges..yet I have been placed 69, 45th and 25th before. Please go through the rules of the challenge properly.
very nice photograph..and thank god you shot it in b/w
dennis its a superb photograph. Excellent perspective. Nature's way of of telling that something's wrong.
Well, I have been a bit busy of late, so couldn't follow the forum. I was hitherto unaware of the fact that a portrait has to be a conventional one and not an aesthetically taken image. I didnt have a DSLR when I shot this photo. So I concentrated on the composition. Lets talk about the authenticity of an image for a change and forget the language and the means. If a boy who has a sense of composition and aesthetics but doesn't have the expensive means of using a DSLR will concentrate only on the enharmonics of a photograph James. Doesn't have to follow the rules. I just submitted the photograph because I thought it was good..the rest was not in my hands.
Nice photograph.I think it has been taken somewhere in North Calcutta...in the first 25 photographs 3 are of the city of Calcutta.
