  • Replied in Leica Mini M
I look forward to seeing what they announce! :-)
  • Get involved with medium format film. A Hasselblad V system is the 'erector set' of medium format photography ... they produced so many lenses, so many accessories, backs, viewfinders, screens, etc...
  • I'll be ... you're right! Special order only now, with a 60-120 day delivery expectation, but still available new. And only $775 from Nikon USA ... that's excellent, really.  If you mean the...
  • Everyone carps about the price. Then they rave about the Sony RX1 which is $800 more and produces infinitesimally nicer results ... I guess because FF is sexy or something like that.  Having tried...
  • I looked it up. Yes, they introduced a 105/2.8 Micro AI-S in about 1984.. The previous 105 Micro was a super lens, but f/4. Hmm hmm.
  • Bosjohn haas it right on the head.  I bought the 1.25x magnifier from Photix. Works a charm for me, particularly with 50/1.5, 90/4, and 134/4.5 lenses.  Btw: a tripod is also necessary for maximum...
  • thank you! Do you mean the 105/2.5? That is one of Nikon's all time best lenses. I know they also made a very nice 105/1.8. I didn't know they also made the 105/2.8 Micro in AI-S mount, but it...
  • Thanks Jim! :-)
  • It's still quite current with one of the best sensors around, the lens is great, and the design is compact, easy to learn, easy to use. If you want a 35mm EFoV, it does the number very well.
  • Created discussion photo: cactus flower
A quick snap before the flower wilted ... they only last a day or so, the cactus put out eight blossoms this year!  Ricoh GXR-M + Nikon 105mm f/2.8 Micro AF-D - ISO 800 @ f/8 @ 1/25 second  See it...
  • The A12 Camera Mount is Leica M-bayonet mount. While I do adapt other lenses to it, I would pick M-bayonet mount lenses for their match in size, mounting, and quality.  My three essential lenses...
  • Replied in My turn
I've sold off my L1s but I doubt I'll ever sell the E-1. As you said, it doesn't bring in much nowadays (likely $180 to $220) and I just like it too much. Mine is still a youngster with around...
  • It's a scenic tour/lunch event with the possibility of stopping at wineries for tours on the way. I saw a tremendous amount of photographing the landscape, the vines, the buildings along the way, a...
  • Thank you to all the further comments. :-) That would be fun. I don't get up that way very often, but I'll contact you next time I'm headed into the vicinity. (Have a plan to do some night...
  • On Saturdays outing (luncheon on the Napa Valley Wine Train, I was amused to count the cameras being used: 22 DSLRs 40 fixed lens ultra zooms 18 NEX, Panasonic, Olympus mirrorless 25 compacts 200...
  • Replied in My turn
One 'early' DSLR that I feel is a true collectible is the late-2003 Olympus E-1. It doesn't have a bazillion buttons and gizmos, it's actually quite simple, but what makes it special is the...
  • Replied in My turn
Ah, the Nikon FM ... One of my long time favorite cameras! I had two FM bodies (FM and FM2n) for almost twenty years. They are indeed super rugged and built like tanks. Which only makes you marvel...
  • Thank you for the compliment, TClair! :-)
  • Thank you! :-)
  • Had an out of town guest yesterday, so we took a ride on the Napa Valley Wine Train for lunch.  Leica X2 - ISO 800 @ f/5.6 @ 1/2000 sec  See it on Flickr.com  This little camera can do so much, so...
