Definitely shoot RAW and shoot carefully.

If your D600 has the spotting problem, Lightroom 4 has a good spot removal tool. You remove the spots on one image, then Sync spot removal with all your other images.
My advice, bang off about 500...

Hopefully, that added functionality will just involve integration with Photoshop. If Adobe lets the purchase version of Lightroom languish they are likely to lose most amateur photographers. I...

QPcard and ColorChecker Passport profiles are untwisted.

Are you using Process 2012 in Lightroom or ACR? I found that the X-Rite profiles created for the D800E are much better with Process 2012 than they were for Process 2010.

The 105mm Micro VR is good for portrature and macro distances. It is a little weak at infinity. Here is a comparison with a 70-200 VRI with a D800E at 100%:

Yes, that would make it more tempting.

This has been the case since the beginning of personal computers. What about that novel you wrote with Word Star or Apple Writer?
I've been involved in publishing a freeform database called iData...

ROTFLMAO! Nikon make a quick and savvy move with software? Dream on. Nikon's pace with software makes glaciers look positively rapid.

The Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8D AF-S is a good example of a lens that does better on DX than FX. It is very sharp in the center, but on FX the corners suffer from strong field curvature.

Here are some options:
Carry a white coffee filter. When you want to set WB, hold it over the lens and aim the camera at the light source. Follow instructions in the users guide to set a WB PRE....

I have the AF-S 105mm f/2.8 Miro-Nikkor VR. It is good for macro and portraits, but not that great at infinity. It has some purple fringing that can be removed by software.

If you get one, I hope you will post some full size sample images. As far as pure resolution, I think you are right. I'm wondering how the microcontrast and other IQ characteristics will be? The...

If that still doesn't get you close enough, set up a WB PRE to UniWB. That should be closer to what the RAW data is like, but the LCD image will by Cyan.
After taking the shot, check the RGB...

I must be doing something wrong. My iPhone service is costing me a lot more than $19.95 per month. :-O
If Photoshop is going to be $29.95 per month, that is $539.10 for 18 months. That is a...

Yea, at f/8 or f/11 it sounds like it might be optically competitive with the Nikon 24mm PC-E. However, I was hoping for better than that.

The challenge is finding a lens that is good enough. Mose wide lenses have problems with the corners on FX.

A strange species, human beings. I guess adrenaline really is an additive drug. :-)
