Lovely, and well-deserving of First Place.
I have some appreciation for this image. It's a terrific stop-action shot, but it loses the feel of the wind because it now seems so static. Viewers must re-create the wind in their minds. Next time bracket speeds and select the most dynamic image.
A great photo, imho, which should have placed much higher.
I think your frame of reference is rather limited. I was not on another boat. I was in a jet helicopter. I made about $50K from photos taken that day. This is just one of them, recently scanned from its 30 year old negative.
Real sailors can feel the power of boat and sails from photos, so for them, photos can be more dynamic than you might imagine. Those sailors were my primary audience and my customer base.
Too many rules for me to be interested. I didn't read them all.
You've got to be kidding. 239th Place? Wow. Thanks.
Congrats on nice subject, exposure and post. I cannot believe how many poorly focused images have done so well, but yours is very fine.
I'm not sure of the date, scanned the photo from our family album. Grandpa, in foreground, became a barber after bugling and fighting in WWI.
Great shot, nice composition and color. Some whites are blown out but I'm sure you knew that.I would think that you might try a softened version, perhaps using gaussian blur, just for fun, to enter in all of the defocused challenges. Graphically it is very nice.I'm sure a b/w version could be nice also.
Sold in 1932.
Very cute. : )
A fun image. Great shot.
Great shot, a real winner in my view.
This is a much better photo than the winner.
This is a very nice image. I like its composition, focus and colors.
This photo should have won the challenge in my opinion. Good work.
