wke002: Jmmg, I concurred with you. I need to get one compact and based on my lists of needs/spec, each time it falls back to X10. I try very hard to look at the likes of others but it still boils back to X10. Have had 2 Fuji compact in the last 9 years and when they start manufacturing it in China, have stop buying till this X10 made in Japan have made me think again.

As i need to get one before end May, I decided to take the plunge and get one this weekend. If the orb is visible even after installing new firmware, will submit it to local Fuji and wait for new sensor. I guess, my time will spend to take ORB(time to bring out the Christmas Ball !!!).

iPhone made in China, just sayin

the 3200 iso sample image is not in the same 2012 standard quality. Just peek at Sony NEX 5N/7 and/or Fujifilm X100 and/or Canon Powershot G1X and they have better noise and details. Sorry but there's no big improvement on micro third system while other system has right now.

Abeautifulmind: Flash.
Canon has made the compact camera I was waiting for.
I use Nikon SLR's since more than 30 years but they haven't convinced me with their Nikon 1 's.

Could anyone tell me if I could use a Nikon SB-600 speed light on the Canon G1 X ?

do you need to put the duck tape to close the flash to hot shoe contact, leaving only to the center or it is not necessary to block the metal contact?

manishsaini: so much noise in the sky.......not acceptable at this price :P

on 6400 ISO, probably D4 would be noisy too on the dark underexpose sky. Your point?

the noise reduction is quite aggresive. But probably the raw would do justice to the image. Is there any option on noise reduction on jpeg?

not very useful on 12800 in full resolution but better than Canon's other older sensors anyway.

too much noise reduction, destroying the detail on the corner on the bottom. Unfortunately ugly. The raw probably just fine.

yup, just like fujifilm tested the water (on m43) with its X100 to their last product X1 pro, probably Canon does it too with this G1 X to its mirrorless camera. Probably not in 3:2 format but the same as G1 X but with interchangeable lenses system to differentiate with their DSLR line ups. Make sense?
