I don't think the Camera did anything wrong.  The widest aperature was likely used depending on the focal length.......I think. To the OP, did you shoot in A mode?

not many options from what I've researched, especially if you are looking for something compact given its a compact camera.  Find a compact bounce flash, and you can use flash for those situations...

I actually don't have an LX7, just obsessing over one. However I think I'd rather use the lenscap as long as it is attached to the camera so it never gets lost...
