    This was originally named "Rohrbach Bridge" but after the Civil War was renamed "Burnside Bridge" due to the heavy losses Ambrose Burnside suffered trying to cross this bridge during the battle of Antitum (or Sharpsburg). At the end of the full days battle, over 22,000 Americans lay dead or wounded or were among the missing: the highest single-day casualty total of the Civil War.
