  • Congrats on your acquisition! What you have described is to be expected unless it is giving lots of backlash. The main thing I would look for is its responsiveness during AF. There shouldn't be ...
  • Lovely, especially the last two. Thanks for showing. LPA
  • Mine is this Barred Owl juvenile about 6 weeks after first leaving its nest. It was getting hunting lessons from Dad who was watching from a well-protected spot to the right of this scene. The ...
  • I didn't post the first image in the first BIF sequence. Yeah, the AF points on the first 2 shots of the sequence were the middle point, but the AF point on the 3rd image in the sequence (image 3 ...

Shot with my under $2500 rig (current US prices): K3+1.4xAW+DA*300, cropped for composition then down-sized for the web. Red-tailed Hawks are fairly common in North Texas, but usually we see them ...

  • Chris, Thanks for keeping us updated about this lens. Those 100% crops are very encouraging. The reason I sold my Bigma and stayed with the DA*300 for my wildlife shooting was the poor resolution ...

Thanks. The advantage we have with digital is noise-reduction software that can compartmentalize noise and deal with each separately. Without that these shots would not have been nearly as nice. LPA

Momma Barred Owl is back. Now that the leaves are thinning out, it's a little easier to spot her. Shot with K3+DA*300, cropped for composition, then down-sized for the web. It was overcast, about ...

Arijit, Thanks. What I do when I'm shooting BIFs with AF-C is to follow the bird with the shutter button half-pressed and once I see that the bird is in focus, then I press the shutter the rest of ...

I wonder if the TAv metering is related to linking AE with AF point? I've needed to use EV correction especially for White Pelican BIFs and a dark background. LPA
