Mr Spiff: I'm using a Pentax K7 and it was my first camera I've ever had. I wanted to have a great cam without paying as much as for the Canon 7D. I have been bying some additional gear and then I was pretty dissapointed as all other gear was lower quality as C/N and it was more expensive too (lower markerd share means higher prices). Now I really want to by a well improvement of the cam so a K-3 might be the choice. However if I compare the Nikon D7100 body for less then EUR 1.000,- to the K3 for EUR 1.300,- I don't understand the point of bying a similar cam for a higher price knowing that the other stuff is m0re expenive too... and pentax is always coming later with their improvements as all others... that is for me the real reason why pentax will never beat C/N... I think I will sell my stuff and will save more by bying Nikon and after all I'll have at least the same or even higher quality gear... sorry Pentax, that way you lose your market in Europe...

to answer your questions... "all other gear being of lower quality and more expensive" Looking e.g. at lenses of Sigma, however you do not need SR on your lens, the same lenses are cheaper with C/N mount compared to K-Mount.Why then SR in the cam. Haven't noticed any advantage to be frankly. Currently the D7100 is available for aubout 800EUR - that is 400EUR less then K-3!
Furthermore the flashes, "sorry but this one is not avalailable for pentax" or "sorry this is not available, we have to order it for pentax". Ist is the same for many other stuff to. It seems like "ooh boy he is using pentax lol".
Looking at previews the lenses of pentax have almost always worse ratings as the other brands. I suppose it also might have something to do with pentax lack of sponsoring and advertisement.
However I have to add that I am very happy with the K-7 image quality too (RAW and at low-ISO ligt conditions). So far I hadn't any quality issues either:-)
let's wait for full review of the K-3 features

MrPetkus: As a long time Pentax user, the specs look great! The comment that the AF wasn't as good as hoped caught my eye in the first impression review. Continuous tracking AF has been a weak point compared to other semi-pro DSLRs. It'd be nice if the K3 at least matched the performance of the aged D300s. We'll see.
At any rate, I've completely stopped investing in Pentax and not because of FF. As a system Pentax is limited by both an antique flash system and lenses. Venturing to incur fanboy wrath, I'm not impressed by a DA limited lens refresh with HD coatings for a 20% price increase. Nor am I confident how their old lens designs will fare with a 24mp sensor. There is a lot of lost ground to cover and hopefully Ricoh can churn out these much needed updates in short order.

If Pentax is now trying to match the performance of the old D300s hmm... this would be a real proove of inadequacy... They would better focus to be compared with the C 70D or N D7100... In fact they should be half year better. And according the spec they are just compareble. The next step, its finetuning, what might be the K3-II, will first come in about one year. By then the N D7200 will be on the marked for about 3/4 of a year and pentax is again behind with their brand new cam and seemingly innovations (the only real innovation is the AA-sensor)
