  • Nope - £8 special delivery. Received it this morning - used but fully boxed with diffuser and rechargeable batteries. Looks like it's never been used. Haven't tried it yet though!
  • Thanks JW - really helpful. I'm a bit like you in that although the EFX20 looks good, it's lack of bouncability is a problem. Found a mint condition EF42 on ebay for £99 so thought it would be...
  • Thanks for your reply. Sorry for being a bit basic but I've never really used anything more advanced than the flip up flash on my old NEX - so yes, I guess I'm asking how the Fuji flashes perform...
  • Hi all, After taking some photos at my cousin's 21st at the weekend, I've decided that I need something a bit more versatile/powerful than the built in flash unit. I've searched all over for some...
  • Submitted a challenge entry England vs Sri Lanka Jungle Cricket
I was in Sri Lanka with a group of old school friends for another friend's wedding. The villa we were staying in was quite a way from the main tourist routes and in a small village that was badly hit by the tsunami. The locals were really friendly and we built up quite a good friendship with them. With us being English, they were desperate to take us on at cricket - one thing both countries have in common. In the absence of a proper pitch, we improvised on a dirt track in the middle of a coconut grove. They beat us by two runs but the result seemed secondary to the feeling of camaraderie - even between the two opposing teams - that you only experience through team sports.

  • One thing you forgot to mention was that paired with the 35mm 1.4 lens, the XE1 would give excellent DOF control and a versatile focal length - despite having the kit zoom, my 35mm hardly ever...
  • Replied in Buying online?
Take a look on Wex Photographic where I got mine from - price is £100 more for the XE1+18-55mm than on Digital Rev. I thought that to be good value considering you get faster delivery, you're...

Placed 33rd in the challenge. Beach BBQ in Sri Lanka
  • I know you say you aren't keen on PP, but as similar as the physics of light passing through a lens onto a photosensitive surface are, digital and film are completely different beasts. I know that...

Vineetha - the Buddhist monk from a temple on the coast between Mirissa and Matara. The temple is situated on top of a hill on the very southern tip of the island - right where the tsunami hit in 2004. Vineetha watched the tide rush our several hundred metres before rushing back in. The temple's situation meant it wasn't hit by the wave but most of the village was destroyed forcing the villagers to set up camp around the temple. The temple itself is small but very ornate but its exposed location means the weather is hitting it pretty hard. I gave him all the cash I had on me to help with repairs but not sure how far it will go. He was so friendly and had a warm smile but there was a certain resigned sadness in his eyes as if he was losing an uphill struggle - which you can see from his posture, despite not being able to see his face.

  • Thanks Marco.
  • Thanks Al, A little warning popped up when I tried posting over 20 (they're linked to my gallery. Not sure if that makes a difference).
  • Love those dogs - like mini Huskies. Great photos too!
  • Created discussions XE-1 on tour in Sri Lanka
Just wanted to post up some photos of a recent trip to Sri Lanka. I don't like using the flash too much but even with the camera's great low light performance, the pictures looked a bit bland and...
