Get real, they are using a kit lens and what you see are the limitations of that lens.

My old 7D with the version I - 70-200L IS takes much-MUCH better photos at a couple frames a second less. Lets see what this can do with some serious glass AND someone who knows how to use it.

I like the textures, could use a touch more contrast or stronger sidelight to bring it out with shadow.

It was good to see the voters took both Old and Fit into consideration on the challenge.

Are trikes allowed or are you sticking with 2 wheels?

This looks like an interesting technique to try sometime when I find the right subject material. Off hand it appears only 2 of the 5 are within the guidelines, 40%?

The little diiference you see could easily be due to a good breeze affecting one tree more than another and this is a slightly slower shutter anyway.

Hi Barb,
Can you clarify the minimum time, is it 25 seconds or .25 seconds as in 1/4 second? It is hard to tell if the decimal point is for the min abbreviation or meant as a fraction.
Thanks

Even with permission when she tells you to go get something a chill runs down my back...

I planted a couple varieties of these last summer and they were called Teddy Bear Sunflowers. I don't know why, but some of them struggled to survive the summer. The lacy greens is a nice touch.

Bangers and Mash: I made a change to the number of entries per person and as well the total submissions. I feel there may well be a great deal of images that would be missed if not for the changes made. Enjoy the challenge.

Cheers

It might have been better to run a series of challenges, I have no interest in entering or viewing 300 entries, let alone voting for all 300. I wonder if the average entry will even average 30 votes each?

The concept should be what you can do with the cheap F/1.8 50mm lens, not the body it is on or relative mathamatical focal lengths.

What happened to the strong profile entry? Also, while 2nd place is a good photo, it does not meet your requirement for noting the location.

You mirrored part of a chimney against a blown out background and cloned out the bird on bottom. Why not seek a real reflection and shoot a real image?

It's very cool, built about 1900 it has been sitting empty for 20 years and all efforts to save it have failed.

Thanks!

Schjeldal: The absence of images from the Western culture is thought provoking

In the west the burial process is governed by laws that do not allow rituals like you see above, in large part due to public health concerns. They do not even lower the casket into the grave until every one has left the site.

Personally, I would find the smell of burning bodies very offensive. Having been burned badly in my youth I can still smell the burning flesh looking at most of these.
