You might want to modify the "Capture date rules" that currently note no restrictions when you do have restrictions in the "Additional rules".

What's the point of making rules and changing them after voting is underway?
A Whole is not missing parts.
Heavy vignette being added to disguise background is not hard to miss if you look.
While many are nice photos, I be surprised if 25% fit the rules of both Whole and NO Processing.

WOW - I think this sets a record for percent of entries that do not fit the description.

RuthC: Folks, I've spending a lot of time checking every entry in this challenge, and disqualified over fifty of them for not meeting the guidelines I had written.
However, I have decided to allow a number of the DQ'd entries to remain in the challenge, even though their pictures did not align with my ideas of the subject matter. After all, the challenge is for members, not me.
So when it comes times to vote, I suggest that you consider the sense of serenity, simplicity, and quality of the reflected plants in the water, rather than the distant landscapes or busyness of the pictures.
Ruth

The sad part is the off topic entrants will likely give lower votes to more on target entries.

It could be many do not get the concept of Cinderella who was raised by uncaring and abusive relatives. Although she was treated like a slave by her Stepmother and Stepsisters who lived in luxury, it was Cinderella's deceased father's estate she was denied.

RuthC: Folks, I will be away, from Friday 6th March until Tuesday, 10th March. I won't have a telephone, a mobile (cell) phone, TV, computer, internet access, iPad, laptop, etc etc. Yes, we will have electricity, hot and cold running water, and a warm bed, but not many of today's must have life-style amenities.
Messages to or from me will have to wait until my return to the 'modern' world. Ruth :-)

This is not a bad thing, I am a bit jealous. Enjoy!

thejohnnerparty: I like it. Just goes to show you - something that doesn't look so good ends up giving you something that you never expected. ;-)

Thank you. It is kind of fitting, this park is a little overlooked also. The fog isolated and cleaned up the setting so you can not see the condos on the other side of the Mississippi River.

Well to mix the pot a little more, baby deer are fawn, not calves. Goat and sheep family refer to offspring as "kids".

If you go strictly by definition I would have to agree with Jill, however when you think of the word being applied in more general terms this is no different than saying "Fruits" or "Sunsets". Would you complain if someone entered just one apple? And how would you shoot more than one sunset? The specifics are spelled out in the description.

I personally do not think it is a good challenge because it pits the more assembly line studio images against street photography which is totally different in terms of lighting, subjects, posing, etc....

On Processing Techniques: Selective Desaturation challenge (9 comments in total)
In reply to:

gfa5775: Pretty sad looking entries. Like the example, I would interpret desaturation as desaturating color channels on the entire photo which can create a unique look, most of these are basic selective coloring of objects and a lot of great example why you would never want to use this cheesy gimmick.

If you can not under the difference between de-saturating color channels like blue over the entire image like the example, (and you could just fade certain colors), verses de-saturating everything but a specific object (selective coloring), it is pointless going any farther.

This is a hobby, I am not a pro, but just looking at the example should show you something or try doing some research instead of looking a misguided entries.

From what I've notice, when the entries are off target, so is the voting. You are obviously one of them...

How about filling it half full of water and adding a bit of interest? (or just stick to P&S cameras and the family album...)

What are you positioning and exposing for, the subject, the clouds or Nikon and Sony?

Get real, they are using a kit lens and what you see are the limitations of that lens.

My old 7D with the version I - 70-200L IS takes much-MUCH better photos at a couple frames a second less. Lets see what this can do with some serious glass AND someone who knows how to use it.
