OK, giving up on trying to fix the pictures in the last post. Click through to the originals though and it'll work :)

I think that it does OK. It's not really fast nor really sharp but I like it so far. This was taken at 10:30pm in Sweden and it's come out fine (JPEG straight from the camera).

Agreed, as a "city break" lens 18-55mm is hard to beat and the kit lens is particularly good (at least mine is). I'm going to force myself to try the 20mm only for an upcoming trip to Prague but I...

When you say "kit lens" I assume you mean the "standard zoom" that comes with the camera? I got the 18-55mm with my NEX-5 (which is part of the NEX family) and it's great. A really good lens. I...

I'd go with the 19mm. I don't have it but I have the 20mm and 35mm. I'm about to go through a shorter experiment, going to an historic town with lots of good photo ops and only taking the 20mm. ...

Great results! Looks like a good choice in the end :)

Agreed, the 35mm is way more useful indoors and just as sharp, bright, etc.

Sounds like a smart move and a great result :)

I've got the non-Macro 70-300mm DG and bought it last year so there's no reason why the same non-macro lens in a DL version. Apparently the DL had a different coating as it was pre Digital. I...

Yes and no. As I understand it, it is equivalent to a 450mm field of view on a FF camera when attached to a Sony APS-C sensor. However, the lens is still 300mm. That doesn't change no matter...

I agree with a lot of this but in the end it's not just about justification. I mean, I love the character of my ROKKOR 50f14 which I'd call "shot in the 70's". Slightly soft but in a good dreamy...

Great photos! Inspiring too, time for me to dig out my old ROKKOR again I think :)

That's really interesting but could also be specific to his lens or yours. A lot of people complain loudly about their 18-55mm kit lenses but mine's always been really good. A few others have...

For me yes. I mostly take shots of my children and the 35mm is a great lens for capturing people rather than places, especially in low light or where I want shallow DOF. For capturing places it's...

I've got it and used it way less than I expected. At first I got some really soft shots from it and that put me off but it seems that the problem was me because it's way better now. I like the...

I think that the 35mm is priced well but the 20mm feels expensive for what it is. Either way, I'm having a lot of fun with them :)

Welcome aboard :)
Mostly I shoot JPEG's in P or iAuto and don't fiddle with the settings much and get a lot of pretty good photos. If you want to get even better results or you're shooting...

Umm, that's not really correct. To quote the article: "It is Adobe’s proprietary image standard"
Ultimately it's probably fine if you buy into the Adobe ecosystem and don't expect to leave but I...
