On Tamron to develop 150-600mm F5-6.3 ultra-telephoto zoom article (193 comments in total)
In reply to:

LukeLT63: I do not understand why Tamron does not produce more new lens for Pentax. I wish I knew ....I'm sorry for my friends that use Pentax!

Most of people who will buy an expensive lens, are using FF cameras. Since there is no Pentax FF, the market demand for a Pentax version might be very low.

On Retro Nikon 'DF' emerges from the shadows article (1396 comments in total)

This retro style is very profitable.
The strip down a D610, without flash or proper grip, less mp, and sell it for more money.
And there are fashion victims who will buy this one instead of a D610.
I'm not interesting in Nikon DF, and I hope it will fail, and we will see less cameras like that in the future.

maksa: Does it mean we can get the K mount with lenses produced only for EF, F, and SA? It's not clear, why Sigma don't produce 120-300mm for Pentax or Sony if it can change a mount of this lens? Or some restrictions nevertheless are there?

It says "as long as Sigma has released that product in the requested mount."

sunnycal: A 27-50mm f/1.8 zoom! Are you kidding! If price is right, I might get it for my D800 and shoot in DX mode.

You see the whole picture, you don't print a single pixel and put it on the wall.
So the light accumulated in the total area maters, and a 18-35 f1.8 lens on APS it's the same as an 27-50 2.8 lens on FF.

On Dpreview Users' Poll: Best Camera of 2012? article (1511 comments in total)

Voted for Sony SLT- a99, I love the SLT cameras, they give you fast live view, you can take quickly from strange angles, you can also take videos with proper autofocus (not the awful hunting of contrast detect focus). It's the camera I was waiting for, since APS crop cameras are just a waste of money compared to FF cameras.

On Sony NEX-6 Hands-on Preview preview (229 comments in total)
In reply to:

bigjay: according to sony usa site the nex 6 does have a touch screen ""The NEX-6 features a perfectly designed control dial, Fn (function) button, and touch screen with touch shutter function lets you focus on the shot instead of the menus."" and again ""Mode control dial and Quick Navi assure quick and intuitive operation comparable to DSLR cameras Control dial, Fn (function) button and touch screen (including touch shutter function) combine to greatly facilitate operation and speed getting the shot.""

So it looks DPR have it wrong or at least their preproduction model had incompelte firmware.

I prefer it without touchscreen, I can put a protecting glass over the screen and throw it into my curry bag, with touchscreens I have to use a camera case to protect the screen...

On Olympus UK announces pricing for PEN Lite (E-PL3) article (22 comments in total)

I have E-PL2, however if I want to upgrade I have to go to E-P3 since E-PL3 doesn't have a build in flash. So I have to pay much more for the E-P3 :(
I'm very unhappy about it!
