  • Ken, Straightforward documentary shots, but technically very well done. I like the processing - your photos almost always have beautiful tones and contrast. Of these two, I prefer the top frame ...
  • Luis, I like your new version, and agree that it's better with the full view of the ocean left in. The panorama format is good. CS2 is still a very useable program. On re-sizing: Make a copy of the ...
  • Luis, This photo (from your other post) takes me back - I used to live in Vancouver. My suggestion is to crop a bit closer and make the image darker for a bit more clarity.  And now that I did ...
  • Luis, I like the concept of your photo - suggesting that the buildings of a modern shopping center are 'Stonehenge' like.  Silhouetting them is a good disguise - they could well be blocks of stone ...
  • Luis, When you post, click on this icon, then select 'Insert image from your computer'. 1200 x 1600 pixels is a good size for viewing. Hope this helps
  • Andrew, Thank you for the explanations and the links - they confirmed some things I was already aware of, and taught me some new things too. Steve
  • Vcize, I have a 14mm Samyang and have used it for Milky Way photos with a 6D. The Photozone review of the lens reported that the focus scale was not accurate, so I tested mine by shooting distant ...
  • BW2468, Are you printing yourself, or having someone else do it?   Which printer? Could you post an image so we can have a look on our monitors, and perhaps even make a test print?   I'm really ...
  • MoreorLess, I like this crop - just wish there was a bit more picture on the left edge, but I realize there's a rock there. I think you got the shutter speed just right to show some detail and some ...
  • Good question. You might try asking on the Nikon forum.  Maybe someone there will know. http://www.dpreview.com/forums/1030
  • Ken, Nice old truck.  1964 Chevrolet C-60? Your new lens looks pretty sharp.  A bit of vignetting, but that's to be expected with such an extreme lens, I think.  Is it a Samyang/Rokinon/Bower 12mm? ...
  • Commented on Film, Black and White. challenge

    They call me Hans,
Are you looking for images made with black and white film only? Or would black and white images made from colour film be OK?
    Steve

  • John, Not sure if you want my thoughts, but here they are anyway - because I think the top photograph is worthwhile. At first glance, it's a lovely image.  There are strong leading lines that lure ...
  • Replied in Piano Portrait
Hey, Paul, long time - no hear from. Welcome back! The photo is very nice. I like the harmonious repetition of the triangles - the piano lid and prop form one, and the subject's arms and head form ...
  • carrotbottom, I am far from being expert with the 6D, but I have had some luck photographing children moving at high speed.  I set the AF to 'AI Servo' and choose 'all AF points' ( all 11 points ...
  • Stanchung,
Not sure if you're serious, but in dark storage, do you think a few degrees of warming would much difference?
The book for my 3880 which was just delivered [ :( ] has 'lightfastness'...

  • I was wondering that too!
From my original Epson 7600 instruction book from 2004 - page 185: "Ultrachrome lightfastness - Color: up to 100 years / Black and White: over 100 years."
    (the fine...

  • I recently posted some 'pendulum photographs' in the DIY forum, and was really surprised at how many members came up with ideas to do them differently and better. Do you think it would be a good ...
  • TJ61, I have no idea what might have caused those faint trails in your exposure. Did you have a filter on the lens? That might cause some reflections between the filter and front element. Just a guess.
  • Joseph, Another great idea!    Thank you!   The camera would be moving as well as the light source.  That would make the image exponentially more complex.  I want to try that next time. Steve
