  • Replied in Not a mistake
Just not effectively implemented. If the ceiling has  open crossbeams you can hook to those  but basically you need two parallel tightenable hoops or hooks . Go to Home Depot or equiv. and buy a 9 ...
  • Replied in The line
Good catch on the static line. I would also fill out  further into the corners. White corners are problematic.  Not my thing but then I do not  shoot kids either.  Seems age and subject appropriate.
  • I should think you are fine. That combined with  the statement  that they (B&G)  have not seen the images yet and   your presumed failure to provide enough images is speculation based on  'something'.
  • If a 22 year old still living at home  had just graduated with no  viable job invitations this might be the perfect way to spend six months or a year or two, meeting people, seeing how things work ...
  • No. Doing just fine.
  • That's why  a photograph is a photograph and everything else is everything else. Just take the shot you want... or what was the point of driving hours at dawn and hiking and climbing? Could have ...
  • Don't know if this  was asked- shooting from where? 200 on the field  for action adjacent to where you are standing will work, Anything else will be too far away. *** This is 200mm prime  and I am ...
  • But I would have suggested passing on the lighting course. Learn by using  and modifying the light at hand, including with reflectors,  and then learn to augment natural light  with electrics. At ...
  • I hope the lecture was a freebie because that's likely what it was worth if his legal expertise is any indication.
  • What he said... or to simplify maybe-  that it's just not happening. The framing,  the plane of focus, the bikes do not stand out at all. I would have believed if the aperture had been f8.  It all ...
  • None of these would even be considered as a color image. That there are folks who do not see or appreciate that says to me that they are looking for something else from their photography. Extended ...
  • Replied in It gets worse.
I really agree with your take on this. Even from an advertising perspective the world has changed and while there is still the Ralph Lauren and Armani  type of usage there is also a whole breed of ...
  • Most of the formal answers seem a bit hackneyed or pompous. I shoot B&W when B&W best serves the work- which on any given day is half or more  of all the images taken.
  • Replied in Tight.
Actually I frame exactly  for the shot 98% of the time. Many images have the borders intact. Some images are re-purposed later or are adapted for a 16x9 aspect ratio  requiring the loss of some ...
  • And someone else is always responsible. For health care, for children, for immigrants, for minorities,  for  LGBT... No one ever stands up and says "I could have ended my current relationship in an ...
  • Replied in Different.
Yes but some people-  a surprisingly large number actually- do not see it that way.  Shoot  thousands of frames and decide later.  I shot 20 frames for each of these set-ups  and was done. ...
  • Need? 35mm FF ?  No. Do not even want it. Maybe after I retire when i am blind to use as a P&S.
  • Replied in 15 years...
I might have been faster but  I do not practice or  run tests or comparisons or experiments.  It took that long for everything that could  go wrong , while progressing  from job to job, to go ...
  • Whether the  current public concludes the images they see actually existed in the viewfinder or not is their problem to solve, if they indeed even care. Never assume and never draw conclusions on ...
