This is not true. I even looked at Reilly's bird pic and messed with the original. It EASILY benefited from a USM tweak. This is the first time I'm hearing on anyone using D800e files with no USM....

I agree!
The P7700 fits in my COAT pocket or a very small case on a belt, which is not something I can do with a DSLR. I can use the SB400 flash and get much nicer results and still have a...

How is it easier to work with? I do occasional event work and the E and standard D800 both required USM. So please explain because I don't know any D800e shooters who don't apply USM and setting...

There are no real rules for portrait work. I've seen wonderful and interesting work done with wide lenses as well as long.
But my preference is the longer the better, starting at 85mm and ending...

And a Macaw is a type of Parrot. I believe there are 6 variations of the sub-species.
Yes, and unless blown up to crazy sizes a D700 will show marvelous amounts of detail. My D700 did very well...

Good little camera, but it does not compare to a P7700 since it cannot handle an external flash and that's what enables the P7700 to dance alongside my D800 and other cams. The P7700 also has a...

At first I thought this was a wonderful pic, but then I enlarged it by 637% for my standard viewing using a NEC projection system on the side of a white barn.
And it was at that moment, as moths...

A Macaw IS a Parrot, specifically belonging to the group of New World Parrots.
And there is nothing spectacular about your shot's sharpness beyond what I've seen with a D700 or 5DII.
Sorry, folks....

Can we see your D800 or D800e 150% crops, please?
Or how about any shot from either camera where you've taken the resolution to the limits where the E would be a true benefit?
Take your time.

And virtually no one posts a single sample from either camera. I think many of the people here cruise the web and don't even own a D800 of any kind.
By the way, if you have any type of sharpness...

The screen protector helps a bit, but does not solve the issue. I've tried it.
In bright sunlight the LCD will always wash out, which is natural. Only some type of finder will work.
I'm looking...

Robin, my friends production company is working on a horror movie in LA. For some scenes they are using the D800 and 5DIII. They experimented with the E and it caused trouble in post, especially...

I just found the info on the French Nikon Website:
D800e Spec
36 MP
4 FPS
BITE 18.9
There you have it. And as we all know, the standard D800 only has a bite rating of 18.5 and when this is...

I own one and yes it works, but it's FAR from convenient.
The P7700 needs a simple hot shoe mounted finder that doesn't cost more than the camera.

What work is that? Using a slightly higher USM setting? Sorry but BOTH D800e and D800 files benefit from mild sharpening. I also know people who own both. They don't grab the E over the standard...
-
I agree and while I don't own both, I do know people who do. You really need to be shooting something specifically needful to see anything in a print and my friend uses both for fashion/fabric...

Try it and see what you get. There aren't many wonderful hot shoe finders. Many are ancient or may not fit and quite expensive.
I'm a bit shocked that no one has filled this need. A simple hot shoe...

The P7700 is a slower camera with no OVF. Period. There's nothing to defend this issue. For me, using a fast card, it's not an issue and I prefer the full coverage display that is moveable.
The G15...

Beautiful woman and nice tone and color, but with her skin you may have chosen a darker BG to make the image more dimensionaL

Interesting to read all of these comments, many from folks who have not spent time with either. I own the P7700 and I tried the G15 for a week. Bottom line: BOTH are very good compact cameras that...
