It is a decent lens, that can lead to surprising results in bright light. To avoid motion blur, try to stay above 1/500 at 200mm and 1/125 at 55mm. The 55-300mm VR is a better lens though.

indeed, I should have said for me. I have 4x3TB harddrives and do loads of event shootings and video, this eats up my HDD like crazy. I used to save my files in Tiff for panoramics and landscapes...

excellent filters, way better than any fade-filter, Tiffen filters offer ver sharp images with no color shift. I bought the 77mm and 58mm kit here...

I used to save my files in TIFF, but this will eat your HDD up like a dark hole.
BEST workflow (if you shoot raw) :
1: Rush out your NEF files (chose the keepers, trow away the bad ones)
2: apply...

I use the benro Tripods, affordable, extremely sturdy, lightweight and extends high enough.

Scanning will also depend on the film & processing used. For example, neopan across is quite hard to scan, but Tri-X and T-max films in dedicated Kodak emultion or Xtol selfmix is way easier to get...

the 135mm 2.8 AIS is absolutely fantastic, the 105mm 2.8 micro is one of the sharpest modern lenses on the market. I was frankly extremely surprised by the new 18-300mm VRII lens (300$ rebate right...

Some people will claim that a specialized tuning plate + target is needed, but this doesn't change the fact that some lenses will require different AF Fine tuning, depending on the zoom extension...

D300 & D200. I mean, I got both for about 900$, both with grip, low shutter count, pristine condition. The D200 offers definitively better portraits out of the box, and the D300 is an awesome...

Hard to tell in this case, as a skateboard photographer you might want to take advantage of the awesome video mode as well. That being said, the D300 will provide extra buffer and a full weather...

thanks for sharing your personal experience. I am torn now as I purchased the D300 for a tiny price and just love the body & grip. I compared many portraits and landscapes taken with both, made a...

I would say yes, the upgrade is worth it. But you'll miss the sturdiness of your D300.
Pros in favor of D7100 :
better color rendition
lower noise
better resolution, great for landscapes and...

I am actually using the D600 for video (indie films) and the results are stunning. The D7100 offers the same quality in an APS-C body, this makes it a perfect b-camera on our set. Not speaking...
-
I actually moved back one step : from D300 to D200 with a few regrets regarding the awesome D300 body, bigger screen, better grip, 100% viefinder (not such a big deal), smooth shutter and AF fine...

lol temptation is great, especially for video.

but thanks for the tip. I went to futureshop and they either accept the pricematch either the 100$ off coupon (~the same), the rules on the coupon are clear.

16-50mm F2.8 (24-75mm) and no AA filter would be a no-brainier for such a camera, at such a price tag. F3.5-6.4 is way too slow and doesnt make sense.
