Replied in Tax reduction
With a foreign passport in Japan and a purchase over 15,000 Yen then the store (most big stores) will waive the 5% tax and attach a form to your passport and you must hand in the paperwork at the...

Replied in Pricing in Australia.
As Joe said, anyone with any passport can get the tax returned at the airport on the way out.
Out permanently or out just going to New Zealand and back next day, it's all the same. Bought...

Replied in Keep messing a bit with those adjustments, rocky...
Just for the record, in Oly-land Noise Reduction refers to dark frame subtraction, so best to leave that at Auto so it will cut in on shots longer than 4 seconds. It's the Noise Filter that does...

Replied in How do you carry your MFT kit?

Replied in Legs don't work often.
Oh yes, getting the shot of that nice boat in that harbour, means that I need to walk across crocodile infested water. Sure.

Replied in Let's face it DG......
In my case the 14-150mm is the "permanent" lens. If they ever update the delicious 12-60/2.8-4.0 to M4/3 then that will become my standard lens.
Not yet started collecting primes apart from 4/3...

Replied in Service, friendliness, and stuff
I did exaggerate a bit just as a warning. Often service in shops and restaurants can be painful, either ignored or the staff think that they are doing you a real favour by talking to you.
But...

Replied in The sensor and IS.
Never mind peoples' obsession with humps, how about the size of the sensor structure and IS mechanism? That has really grown and shows a definite commitment to in-body stabilisation to invest so...

Replied in The old argument for the 1,000th time....
There's reasons to have both at times, zooms are convenient, but primes deliver when things get tough.
Anyway, that's not why I'm here.
I wanted to congratulate you on reviving the old prime...

Replied in Pricing in Australia.
Most things are more expensive here, the usual argument is that it is a smaller market, population only 1/10 the size of US or maybe less, and a long tradition of importers trying to make good...

Replied in Pricing in Australia.
More like 8% and rising......
Trap there for beginners, the Oz$1,000 limit does include all costs like postage and insurance.

Replied in A related question.... IBIS or OIS
The official advice is to turn one off as both together may cause worse results.
If the OIS lens has no OIS switch, then on Oly bodies at present the OIS is disabled. So IBIS is the only choice,...

Replied in No way, José
GPS is the camera and phone feature that stalkers just love.
All those innocent photos on FarceBook and they know where to find you.

Replied in Not getting the E-M5
For me it's overkill. I don't like using viewfinders any more and am now fully converted to LCD use, even when it's way hard to see. I do have VF-2 for my E-PL1 but it only gets used once in a blue...

Replied in Maybe not
My suspicion is that the FL-600R will probably replace the FL-50R and later some new middle flash such as a maybe possible FL-400R will replace the FL-36R. Just guessing. That would then make a...

Replied in The good enoughness of pocket cameras.....
The "good enough" of pocket cameras surprises me at times. Like today doing some 60 year old school photo scans and re-prints, for some relief I grabbed one of my wife's Casio ZR100 (12MP pocket...
