smhmn: Garmin really missed on this "update." Specs that are about the equal of a Hero4 Silver on a product to be on the market a couple of months before the Hero4 Silver's successor is. No attempt at class leading 4k video, or building on their near class leading battery lift of the existing products. Instead we get a late me-too product with poor battery life and fewer sensors, and they altered the mounts so that any of the previous generation's are junk. Thanks Garmin.
Any Garmin's Virb do loop recording
Papi61: No 4K? Deal breaker. Match the Hero 4 Black on specs and offer it for $150-200 less and then many people will be interested.
Please not everybody needs 4K
Papi61: Since these can't match the GoPro 4 Hero Black on features, they're competing with second-tier action cameras with similar specs, which generally cost a lot less (in fact, as little as $99.)
In other words, they lose against GoPro on features and against cheaper action cameras on price. Don't know if Garmin can somehow find a middle ground in the market. Certainly they don't have any reputation as camera makers, so it will be an uphill battle for them.
Did GP translate data invofmation (speed, altitude and more)?
hhmm no K-5 firmware update..
U R so narrowminded. If pentax release color versions for years meens it brings money. Who care about your opinion not to buy it?
I don't like bokeh
Dezzza: Who will take this camera to shoot with JPG? It'a not a smartphone.
So... DPR is for them? That's funny.
sunilkumar: compare JPG/RAW with other gold award camera justmeMN. 7D is not as good as K3 but...
PS - I am neither Pentax nor canon shooter.
You Nikon, Panasonic and Canon shooter )
Dear RichardI don't care about FluCard. And I don't care about incamera JPG
I even can not understand people to buy top level in class camera and not take an advantage of RAW files )))
Who will take this camera to shoot with JPG? It'a not a smartphone.
Retzius: I can't believe you ended the review with this:
"It's not a camera to change systems for, but it's well worth upgrading to, and good enough to make the Pentax system worth considering if you have no existing commitments."
In effect, you are bluntly saying "don't buy this camera if you are a Nikon or Canon user."
Nikon and Canon will be happy now :)
Donnie G: One of the nice things about being a member of a camera club is that I get a chance to try out camera kits that I am curious about even though I don't own them. Most of our members, including me, own Canon or Nikon, so I get to play with the latest and greatest from those companies all the time. Before last Christmas there was only one Pentax 645D, one Sony A7, and two Sony SLT A77 owners in the club. Sorry, no M4/3s shooters yet. Well, the SLT A77 guys have now both switched to the Pentax K-3, and the 645D shooter has added a K-3 to her kit. That tells me that there is much to like about the Pentax K-3. :)
My K5 AF is great indoor with DA40, FA50 1,4, FA77I have no problem really.
roddigphot: I am far too busy taking pictures to argue about specification, so all I can say is currently the Gopro Hero 3+Black is the best action cam on the planet bar none
Garmin's Virb are also nice
I don't like it at all
It's just bad pictures.Photog's guilty
Mescalamba: Why would anyone buy this?
2 tkbslc "They might finally be selling, but Pentax isn't making a dime at those prices."
So who cares?
