ogl: Sigma could produce cheaper version of sensor - 10 MP (10*3=30 MP) and offer TWO new EVIL cameras with 10 and 15.6 MP and offer a lot of lenses for such system without any problem....But they produce strange DP cameras.
To use wide-angle - need one camera, to use short tele - another and to use standart - need to buy the third one...Absurd. IMO. Sigma, make DP based EVIL system with a lot of lenses and it will be cool!!!

I think it's you that's absurd

I have the DP2 and its pretty darn good for what it is. I do prefer my Hasselblad H4D-31 though the Sigma comes close in IQ. I could see owning a DP1/2/3 trio and traveling ultra light though. 3K barely buys one HC lens.

Thauglor: I don't believe Lightroom's catalog feature is adequate, or appropriate for my needs. I bought LR3 for some of its editing capabilities... distortion correction as an example.

It's terribly frustrating that LR won't allow me to simply "open" a photo, edit and save as I see fit.

I understand that the catalog is very nice for a lot of folks, but there's no 'good' reason, that we shouldn't have the capability to also simply 'open' a file without adding it to the catalog.

We should have the option. There's no real excuse for it, IMO.

I expect that Adobe's business model is designed to be as inclusive and proprietary a system as possible to "lock-in" the customer.

If you dig the cataloging that's fine... no argument, but really, is there a good reason anyone can think of to PROHIBIT the user from editing one file on the fly if they want to ?

Not the same as ACR. Lightroom has more tricks than ACR alone

I'm only using LR because I don't like Phocus for my H4D raws. I like LR's editing features but the catalog not very much. I'd use Capture One if it supported Hassy raws in a heartbeat

You can't rationalize crap no matter how hard you try. He's in denial. The whole design group should be canned.

Fit for a Klingon or Romulan but not for humans with a shred of taste.

DancingPhotoPanda: What worries me more in terms of comments here aren't the people pointing out possible issues with this camera, but the near fanatic herd of holier-than-thou "supporters" (who I'd like to think are paid shills for some other company) describing why this camera is so awesome and what you shoot with isn't in what are possibly some of the most condescending and insulting ways imaginable. No amount of actual insults towards Sigma or negative reviews could possibly hurt the brand as much as its "supporters" are.

OTOH, I'm having trouble imagining which company would waste money on trollish astroturfing given the market performance of the last few Sigmas. Have you people considered calming down, realizing that people have differing opinions, and letting people decide for themselves what they like? Right now you're just hurting the image of the company you claim to love.

You are a paranoid schizophrenic

If you think it's got issues try shooting medium or large format film. Now that's a major pain. I know I tried it and just can't go back. I've a DP2 Merrill coming this week and am wondering if I'll still need my Hasselblad H4D-31. I don't mind slow I'm used to the large format film contemplative approach.

But what difference does it make if it's 40+ megapixels ? 1080p doesn't need that kind of resolution
