I'm not sure of your exact lens, but I have the Tamron SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD and it works very well with my Nikon D5000, which has no in-body focus motor.

These very expensive high tech carbon fiber catamarans are very fast, but somehow have lost the beauty of the old monohull racing boats.

Nice scene, however I would prefer it shot in landscape mode.

No need to shoot this at 1/1500 sec. Shutter sppeed of 1/500 sec would be be adequate and you could lower the iso to 200, resulting in a clearer sharper photo with less noise.

Try putting/fastening a small branch right above the feeder. If shooting in good sunlight, set the speed high and shoot in burst mode when the hummingbird gets done feeding and goes to land on the...

Some very nice very shots. Were these images processed with some sort of HDR program. They seem to have missing the shadows that would normally be there?

Because of the long exposure and extreme post processing this is fictional image, not what the eye would see. However, it is still a very beautiful and great piece of digital art....congratulations.

D5000 with 18-105 is my favorite light travel setup. Four shots combined into a vertical pan show very good detail on the top of the tower and below, when you zoom in.

That sounds like a good idea with the flash and slower speed. I have been shooting mostly in good light with a fast shutter speed

D300 still does well with older Nikon AF 300/F4 and Kenko 1.4TC

Shooting at a different angle may improve the composition.

Small birds like Chickadees with very fast wing speed are  hard for me...

Even a tiny ruby throated can have a bad hair day once in a while...
