I am not in the least a video man, I just pressed the button, I know it was on autofocus and the light was not good so it was slow, it did refocus when the child stood in frame but slow.

I agree with what Ray said, your subjects are well chosen, I'm afraid its just that bit too contrasty for me, my Lumix LX3 has a Film Grain effect that is high contrast but not as harsh.
