IrishhAndy: Almost £2ooo for a crippled camera. You're having a laugh, nikon. My D700 is superior to this except for the megapixels. Most people would be better of with the nikon d7000.
Charging for megapixels is really stupid when you look at the nice mirrorless cameras at half the price. Why don't you just accept that the overpriced underperforming options are finished.
the D700 has better AF? Really? What are you basing your opinion on. I would assume the D600's to be superior.
Abhijith Kannankavil: Lookin at the price of this camera, i think we'll have D700 selling for lower prices. That's what makes me happy.
The D700 sensor is spectacular...but getting long in the tooth. Can anyone comment on the IQ of this new sensor compared to the D700. I realize it has 2x the res...but who is the quality? I love my D700...but I wish it had video capability.

Smaller than the D800 (and my D3S) for hiking....great !
The D800....36mp is to much.......24mp is just right....great!
But a bit slow at 5.5 fps....not so great!
The 1/8000 sec missing is not a deal breaker......how often we use 1/8000 sec....
If the image quality is approx equal to the D800 ...including DR et Noise....that will be great! Let's wait for good sample image before ordering one.
I also hope the video will be sharper then the D4.....but the D600 with clean HDMI also...it's great!
Please....no bug for this one...like on the D800 focus issue....:)
Agreed it is a bummer. But easily solved with a ND filter. Who (at this level of photography) doesn't have a few of those these days?
Jon Stern: That's expensive, but I was in the market for a wide-angle adapter for my X100, so I'm definitely interested.
Now I just want them to announce a teleconverter too. A 2x would be great to give me a 70mm equivalent.
Of course, I didn't want to have interchangeable lenses (I have my 5D Mark II for that), so this could be a slippery slope.
Add me to the list of people wanting a 2x tele.
