On Sony announces US pricing for full-frame Alpha 7 II article (177 comments in total)
In reply to:

halai: I love using my Sony A7. Matter of fact, I use it more than my Nikon Df whenever I travel or go out with my family. The tilt screen, face regconition, excellent video, and its compactness, makes it a joy to use and carry around all day with the 35mm and 55mm lenses. However there are two things I would like to see Sony improve on:
1. Autofocus in dim light situation. AF is fast during the day but at night, it can be a pain in the ass sometimes.
2. Shutter sound. Can it be more quiet please, or silence like the RX1.

As much as I like using Nikon, there is no reason for me to keep two system when Sony get those two things right, and with IBIS, it's a dream camera for me.

@Zeisschen and Abortabort - you guys are right that the A7s has what I'm looking for, and it's a damn fine camera! However a light downside is that it is only 12mp. I would like at least 16-24mp since I like to have that flexibility to crop when taking pictures.

On Samsung NX1 real-world sample images article (330 comments in total)
In reply to:

justmeMN: Technical merit aside, in the US, Samsung has a brand problem. $2,799.00 for an off-brand camera? Good luck with that.

Where is this "off-brand" now with their phones, tablets, computers, TVs, refrigerators, washer & dryers, and diswashers... just to name a few? I think this "off-brand" company can buy both Nikon and Canon companies tomorrow if they wanted to.

On Nikon 1 V3 stock shortage prompts official apology article (289 comments in total)

Nikon please try again. This marketing trick is pretty lame. Yes you will fool a couple people, but you really think we will buy this for $1200? Please think again.

On Nikon 1 V3 stock shortage prompts official apology article (289 comments in total)
In reply to:

Retzius: Ah yes, the demand outpaces production "apology"... The lamest form of marketing by Nikon so far.

How stupid does Nikon think we are?

Nikon, pull your head out of your collective butt, stop the stupid marketing tricks, and start competing again.

Can't believe people are falling for this marketing trick. "We are sold out of the V3!" Really Nikon? How many did you actually produced? At $1200...what a joke!

On Pentax K-3 Review preview (498 comments in total)

Not that I care about the score...but don't you think the K-3 should have a higher score than 83 DPR? :-)
- No oil spots
- No light leak
- Has video
- Very very good raw file

Isn't this what we want for our photography???

I'm ready to dump all my Nikon gear for this new A7S, if the AF-C is as fast as the D700/D800. What do you say Sony? Can you do that for me?

In reply to:

SergioSpain: Where are all those Nikon apologists/dust deniers now who said dust is normal and you should just learn to clean your sensor and quit complaining? There were more than a few of those on DPreview boards.

I believe they feel really stupid now because they got a defective product. LMAO!!!

So obviously this is a known fact that D600 is a defective product even from the start. I really wonder where are all the clowns that said this dust/oil issue from a camera is normal, and it is our responsibility to learn how to clean a camera even when we bought it NEW. Come on, where are you clowns??? Do you feel stupid now?

On Nikon Df Review preview (1627 comments in total)

This is for Nikon. So, you expect us to buy this camera and still carry around our camcorder for videos. We know you market this camera as a "Pure Photography" camera, but common, we can still use a camera that has a video function as "Pure Photography", and then switch that button for "Pure Videography" too. Really dumb marketing Nikon.

halai: DPR, you forgot to mention "NO VIDEO" as a con. I was looking forward to purchase this camera, then found there is no video function. It would have been a perfect camera for me. Oh well, will save my money for something else.

With these days and age...YES. It is almost consider a cripple camera without video. For people like me to love take pictures and record videos of family and friends. Not to mention wedding photographers who records clips of the couple walking down the aisle.

Bloody hell ugly!!! I really don't know what's the big deal about apple products that people are so crazy about? I'm willing to bet you, if apple came out with a triangle phone tomorrow, there will be million of people waiting in line for that damn thing, and rave how awesome it is.

On Just Posted: Canon EOS 700D / EOS Rebel T5i review article (178 comments in total)

I do agree with most posters here that this is not even an upgrade, but i do understand why Canon is doing this. Why fix something that is not broken? At the end of the day, there're still lots of soccer moms and beginners who buys this camera just for the Canon logo.

Same old crap like "The Fast and the Furious". I hear that they are making #7 soon since they still racking in the $$$.

If only they throw in a louis vuitton or chanel handbag, I bet you all the ladies will be all over it. But then again, they will keep the handbag and throw this cam in the trash can.

As an owner of the K-5, I would like to see the AFC comparison of the two cameras. I have kids so would love to see if Pentax improved on this segment.

Thanks DPR!

halai: DPR, am I seeing it correctly? High ISO at 6400 on D800 and D600 is worst than D700 in raw file? Not that I shoot that high in ISO, but thought it was weird to see that.

Thanks Marike6! I will check out DxOMark sensor tests

I like the idea that Pentax is keeping at 16mp. For most people, this is more than enough. If AF-C anywhere near the Nikon D700, I will upgrade my K-5 in a heart beat, and Pentax will hit a home run out of the park. A lot of Pentax users including myself are waiting for this. If it's slightly better than the K-5, I will past and continue to use my K-5 until it dies. In the meantime, I will get the D600 when it comes out to replace my D700.

I primarily shoot Nikon but I have to say this is the best camera at this price range. I don't even think the soon release Nikon D5200 and Canon T4i can't even touch this. Really love the design and all weather sealing at $850, SICK!!! I think Pentax will hit a home run with this camera. Also, I like the fact that Pentax kept at 16mp instead of 24mp or even higher like other companies are doing. Why? To be honest, how many people really need higher than 16mp??? I know I know... there will always some people, but seriously what is the percentage of that?
