This last one with the bride in the air would have come out better if a better angle was used. The distracting automobiles at the bottom. At least with FF if you had to shoot from this angle...

Agreed. M43 can do a great job, providing the lighting is decent. The IQ from the images of Nikon FF or Canon FF will be superior, esp if you need to print larger or shoot with no flash at high ISO.
-
Until you have to shoot in venue with dim lighting and no flash is required, or need shallower Depth of field.
-
There are many other conditions that require a FF D4 over a M43 camera than just the condition you mentioned above. I have both, Full Frame and M43. When I need to shoot in less than ideal...
-
Agreed. Even though M43 is very good I have one in addtion to my FF equipment, people still want the FF DSLR for weddings/pro shooting, know matter how good the M43 is.

If you are going to use a GH3 you might as well use a DSLR, nearly same size/weight. GH3 is about same size/weight as a Nikon D5100 DSLR

It was Nikon's first full frame camera in a smaller body than the D3. It had the same image quality for half the price of the D3. Basically a D3 with a 50% rebate...

Good to see that a 2007 technology camera (D3) nearly keeps up with a 2012 tech camera (D800) LOL!
-
If you are shooting a concert in low light, I'd personally be using a D3S or D4, not a D800. Better tool for the job.
-
Not really.. I've had some V6 engines get gas mileage nearly as bad as a V8... LOL! Remember the Corvette V8 gets (I've gotten nearly 30mpg on long highway trips) the same highway gas mileage or...

High iso and low light the D4 really has no improvement over the D3s. Its not worth the $2k loss you will take upgrading. $4k for a good used D3S bs $6k for a new D4. Just 16mp vs 12 mp which is...
-
Not if you shoot sports. D3 is better than the D800.
-
Here too. GX1 with the excellent Leica 25mm F1.4. For me my normal camera is the D3S body.

Only buy the oem battery, nikon brand. It may cost more but will work 99% of the time. Ive tried off brand batteries pearstone, digi power etc to try to save some $$ and they are always 50-50 or...

I will agree that some of the newer generation cameras have overtaken the D700 at high iso. But to say they have substantially overtaken is not correct. The D700 which is based on 2007 D3...
-
True. Except the old D700 contrls are better than the D600. D600 are too D7000 like. More pro sumer than pro.
-
Sorry, a D7000 (same sensor as D5100) is not better than a D700 in low light iso 6400. It is worse in my usage. My D3S is clearly superior night vs day at iso 6400 vs the d7000 and d5100 ( same...

Why isn't 12mp of the say D700, etc good enough? Unless you are printing larger than 12x18 inch, extensive cropping etc.. than 12mp should suffice. I have no problem using my D3s with only 12mp

You don't have to be a full time pro photographer or earn $$ to buy an FX camera. It's kind of funny because all the SLR's were (Full frame). It's only since the D1 of 1999 that there has been...
