Very nice pics!
I am waiting for geese and ducks to show of their new batch, but due to an uncommonly long winter nothing so far in my region...
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Adam,
I guess it is a little subjective what the "best" underwater system in your price range might be since it depends a lot on your use.
So, here are my thought:
I am using a Canon G1X with...

Hi Wok,
I had a G9 before changing to the G1X. I assume that there is not much speed and AF performance difference between the G9 & G10. The G1X is about the same speed, not faster but also not...

Marco,
thanks for commenting. Yes, I am aware that in the Auto Mode the camera switches automatically to macro mode. However, that also means you cannot do exposure compensation, shoot in RAW...

That helps a little, especially in low light situations to get a focus at all, but will also have an impact on the exposure settings (as far as I understand - please correct if wrong)
I...

Hi Keith,
thanks for your response. I have in the meantime bought the Inon UCL-165M67 Close-Up lens and an adapter from H20. As yours, it is vignetting quite a bit...

I bought my G1X in September 2012 and must admit that I am still not 100% sure about it. While you can take some nice pictures with it, the shortcomings regarding speed (AF and general operation)...

I like your little "experiment", I would have gotten it wrong as well. Have you done any PP, e.g. sharpening?
I would be interested to see the same "experiment" in a low...

If you can live with a slow AF, I would suggest that you look into buying a G1X, since it has quite a good low light performance. It is a little bigger, but due to the quite rugged design of the...

I have not used an Ikelite casing so far, but have three Canon casings (Ixus v3, G9 and G1X). Having seen and read about Ikelite casings, I understand that they are better when it comes to the use...

Nice shots!!

1. use Macro Mode
2. buy filter adapter
3. buy Close-up lens (e.g. Canon 250D - if you can get hold of one, since they are sold out around the world)
That should help...
Good Luck!!!

I agree with you - I have a G1X, which is quite a nice camera, but the AF and the camera operation (e.g. changing settings) is just tooooooooo sluggish. As others pointed out here, a travel camera...

Rod,
love your Koala! What a cute little bugger...
I was in Australia two years ago and was looking hard to find one in the wild (west coast), but had no luck.
Well, at least they are slow enough...

Hi Krugman, thanks for taking the effort to state your point again. I agree with you, that lumping around a lot of gear is not a lot of fun and kind of counter productive to the idea of a "compact...

Hi Krugman,I am not sure I got your point, we are discussing optical TCs, which would allow you to crop or use digital zoom in addition, if necessary. Or I am I missing your point?Lars full...
