Cool camera for sure. However... 5.6 for underwater? Can't imagine those shots will turn out well. The 10mm lens however sounds promising. Could be a great camera... I'd certainly buy one if the...

I read something about a major firmware update to the x100. Just rumors? Curious.

another easy way to grab a quick screen grab is hitting command shift and 4. This let's you grab whatever you want off screen and will save a copy to your desktop in .png format. Quick and dirty...

use a slower shutter speed to show more prop blur

Can't comment on the air with regards to performance but I can on screen size. If you are looking to use something like light room I think the smaller screens would get old to work on all the time....

The smart preview in LR5 seems to be a big game changer. Curious if anyone out there is using a top of the line air with LR, specifically editing/sorting, etc on an air.
Curious how quickly it runs...

Thanks for the info.
Question about ctrl-s command. Do you need to do this in order to get the keywords/metadata to embed into the file? Or all changes?
Main reason for building and exporting...

I am somewhat new to LR and very new to LR5 and smart previews. I've watched a number of training videos and searched for additional information but still have a few questions.
I have a very large...

Yes, I was hoping to have a dedicated ssd drive for just the catalog. Thinking that 'maybe' if it didn't have to spin, accessing previews and such would be much faster than working from the imac's...

I have an imac i7 2.8 GHZ with 8 gb of ram. Curious if I were to buy a SSD external drive and run my LR catalog from that if it would run faster. Or, if I am subject to my computers overall...

Trying to get going with LR. Importing 200,000 images into a caltalog. It made it about 1/2 way through overnight and now it's not making any progress....
Not sure what to do.

Trying to figure out if I am able to replace my i7 27" imac drive with an SSD drive and if that would make a huge improvement in general speed.
thanks

thanks. at this point not worth selling it.

starrting to be inclined to agree with not doing the upgrade and either just sucking it up or waiting until I "really" need to upgrade the laptop.
Out of curiosity. What do you think I could get...

Thanks all for the info. I want at least the same size 500gb drive and if possible, a bigger drive for when I travel for a job. As for the cost of upgrade/worth it? Not much out there I could buy...

I could. I'd be spending more than I would by installing an ssd to my 17" which other than not running as fast as I'd like is perfectly fine. When I do buy a new laptop, I will drop the 3-4K and...

I could but I probably burn about 200 dvd's a year for various clients. Not sure it would be cost effective.

Thanks for the info. Seems like a worthy upgrade. Not in the market for spending upwards of $3,500 for a new MBP and they don't even make the 17" anymore which I prefer.
Yeah, I don't understand...

Thanks for the info. Called two mac stores and they didn't even know what I was talking about...
I'm not dying to spend $1,000.00 but feel that spending up to that is not out of the question if it...

Sorry if this has been covered but I am trying to find out if replacing my current hard drive in my 17" mbp with a new SSD is possible and if it would be a significant bump in operational...
