how does the 4/3 version compare to the m43 lens? Well, the older lens is larger, and better corrected optically (but won't be corrected in camera) I think it's slightly sharper as well, but not ...
  • Replied in Because...
I shoot m43 because there was no suitable 4/3 successor to the E-520 and the E-5 was too big. The OM-Ds and lenses are just the right size.
  • Maybe it's just that I don't see things 'normal', but I don't favor the 20-30mm range... I have the 17/1.8 and 45/1.8 as my fast primes and they suit me just fine... Don't miss the gap between ...
  • Replied in Why not
They had the camera for testing, and the lens for testing, why not test both at once?
  • Replied in I'm waiting...
I love the looks as well, and I figure the price will drop eventually.  May pick one up when it drops below $500 :) I'd give priority to the E-M1/II though But I figure my E-M1 will last a couple ...
  • the 4.1 update stalled, but went smooth second time... was going from 4.0 though.  Is it the 4.0 update not working or is it trying to go straight to 4.1?  (I was under the impression you needed ...
  • Replied in for the EPL1
I'd probably go w the 12-35 for its smaller size.  Plus it does give you the option to move to a GM or other Panny at some point and not lose stabilization.
  • Replied in EM1 or Pen F ?
If you are using big lenses, or like one handed shooting, the difference in grip is critical.  If you tend to hold the camera by the lens, the grip matters less. Or you could pick up an E-M5/II, ...
  • Replied in Funny thing
At one point this was the friendly forum, and the Olympus DSLR forum was the hostile one, especially at mention of the E-M5 replacing the E-5. Could it be those bitter folks finally adopted m43 and ...
  • But add the MC-14 for 420mm. :) Also, I believe it focuses closer than the zoom. Neither is in the budget for me, but assuming the IQ is similar, I think I'd still favor the 300 (plus converter). ...
  • Replied in Ask yourself
Do you have 4/3 lenses you want to use? Do you prefer a slimmer body and rangefinder style or a big grip and centered VF? Do you shoot more Jpeg and want the most in camera processing? Do you want ...
  • I'd probably go w the 14-150 II for the extended range... but note the 14-150 can be a little soft around the edges at 150mm. If you don't need the extended range, go for the 12-40... Even if it ...

  • The mount and ribbon cable are available from Lutron, only need a small screwdriver to do the transplant as long as there is no additional damage.
  • I don't think this lens has an MF/AF clutch or switch, if that's what you are looking for... but you can find the manual here: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_product.asp?id=1630
  • Perhaps it's selling well and they upped production for a per unit cost savings? Or maybe it just wasn't selling well enough at the higher price? I'm just bummed because I paid $400 for a -used- ...
  • Replied in 12-60mm
BTW, I do have the 12-60 as well... yes, it's big, but for foul weather shooting I find it is easier to work with when wearing gloves, and the extra aperture (over the 14-150, at least at the wide ...
  • I'm thinking the best way, if the most time consuming, is to use Olympus Capture and a tether.  Allows you to set the focus step, see each frame before you shoot...
  • Replied in 12-50mm
Have a 12-50, but I've replaced it w a 14-150 II as my every day and travel lens.  Yes, I sometimes miss the extra bit at the wide end, but 14mm is manageable and I don't have to swap out the ...
  • But we can't take into consideration towing capacity or fuel economy, off road ability or how well it can navigate tight side streets. How does the E-M1/II stack up against the new Nikon? Not well ...
