  • Created discussion thread Travel Storage Security
I'm curious what people who have experience travelling with expensive DSLR gear do with their gear when they just can't take it with them while on a trip?  I'm reserving a room with an in room ...
  • Created discussion thread Checking New Lens Copy Quality
I just got in a new Tamron 24 70 with a sizable rebate that needs to be postmarked by 1/15.  Should I be testing this lens out pretty hard before sending in the rebate and registering it for the ...
  • I certainly hoped that is the case.  I endure exceptional criticism and it was criticized how carelessly I was handling my new camera equipment.  Probably somebody looking to try to get agreement ...
  • Thank you and everyone for your input.  I very much appreciate it!
  • Thanks for the suggestion!  I'll keep an open mind about it.  If a decision were based on the DXOMark performance the 85 would appear to slay the other options handily.  Maybe I could take up ...
  • I have considered just sticking with the 50mm and looking up the range for a telephoto zoom, but I'm questioning just how much need I would have for any lens that is only 70mm+.  I'm stepping back ...
  • Created discussion thread Next Lens Suggestions D750
I realize that nobody can decide for me what is best for me, but I thought I would float it out there and see if I get any responses that help.  I just got a new Nikon D750 that I chose for mostly ...
  • So, should I be implementing some kind of copyright protection on these before putting them on the internet? I have to confess that I would have no idea what value they might have if any.  These ...
  • UFO's? Dust on the sensor? Scratches on the lens? Nooooooooo..... It's SNOW! There was a huge snowstorm that finally just became a whiteout eventually.
  • Not sure if it makes any difference, but I am pleased that I can go out and capture night skies with the f 2.8 lens.  This was the first test of it.  The full moon over the Grand Canyon lit it up ...
  • Here is the full original composition at the bottom at least.  I still left the top crop as is.
  • I believe I did include more of the foliage in #4 in the original composition and then cropped it out. I guess I thought it was a little distracting to have too much of it or maybe it just wasn't ...
  • Thanks.  I suppose you just have to accept whatever mother nature gives you when you visit.  The west and east drives were totally shut down so we were lucky just to get to see what we did.  I ...
  • I am by no means an expert on this to comment and this is all brand new equipment to me, but I'm wondering if perhaps what you are noticing is me shooting most of these with highlight metering and ...
  • Thanks for the input.  Yeah, I'm looking at the timeline on that rebate thing and from my experience with Cannon rebates it does scare me a bit that they would try to pull a stunt rejecting it for ...
  • DXOMark comparison looks like the Tamron only slightly gives up sharpness to the Nikon at 50-70 wide open, but I known that's not the entire story.  It might actually be sharper at 24 for that matter.
  • Created discussion thread Tamron 24 70 2.8 Rebate Deal
So, I recently got a Nikon D750 and my primary concern was for a wide zoom for landscapes and I picked the Tamron SP 15-30 2.8. I can't say that I'm disappointed, but then again I don't have ...
  • Thanks! I don't have a super high end full Adobe RGB calibrated monitor so that probably does have some impact on how they look for those who may.  I am familiar with the can of worms that a ...
  • Created discussion thread C & C Grand Canyon Christmas
I'm back from a week long trip to Arizona with a new Nikon D750, Nikkor 50mm 1.8g, and Tamron SP 15-30 2.8 lenses. I'm looking through what I got at the Grand Canyon and thought I would post a few ...
  • Created discussion thread Lens Transport Care
I'm new to DSLR photography and I'm curious about just how fragile lenses are while travelling.  I have a Tamron 15 30 f 2.8 that is a pretty hefty 1100 gram lens with a fairly high number of ...
